There’s been a lot of talk about speaking truth to power. Marianne, what you are doing now is speaking truth to the people, who have to hear it in order that we can create our own power, political/worldly and spiritual. Thank you once again!
Marianne, each of your missives this week have been profound and enlightening!
On the “spiritual” front, you are showing us the inner work we must engage in if we are to transform the world. On the “political” end, you are peeling back the layers of an onion in awakening us to the Truth we have (perhaps) been unwilling to see behind all the headlines and the noise. You so clearly point out the need to both “pray hard and kick ass!” All these - and more - are reasons why I so avidly supported your Campaign for President and continue to hear your voice as a Beacon of Light in the darkness. Many thanks and much love to you for your courage and commitment to telling it like it is. ❤️💕
P.S. Thanx for posting ( Republican) Presidents Eisenhower’s warning about the dangers of the military industrial complex!
Indeed, Marianne, it's gorgeous. It reminds me of the great book "Neither Wolf Nor Dog," a masterpiece written by Kent Nerburn. I will use this video in my quest to get a small town to pass a resolution declaring climate change as a public health emergency. So far I have met with some resistance but will keep trying. I love your new Transform venture!
Greetings Marianne, I applaud your views which mirror my own. The heroic London "Sunday Times" war correspondent Marie Colvin said the following about our recent, indecent wars that will become my email signature message since it provides instant clarity not only about our immoral wars but our maladaptive thinking on a range of other vital issues: "We fail when all sides obscure the truth," Colvin declared. She sacrificed her life in a hideous war zone so the world could learn of our madness!
I know why I am so eager to hear you speak now. The truth of your words this week has been welcomed and agreed to by many. Thank you for your honesty and ability to tell the truth. I look forward to hearing from you each day.
I loved your post, however I think we have to understand that the USA was borne in war. The Revolutionary War, The War of 1812, The Civil War, Mexican-American War, Native American War, Annexation of Hawaii, WW1, WW2, Korean War, Vietnam War, War on Drugs, War on Terrorism, and probably some I missed!! We participated in arms races, even going to the moon, was considered a strategic advantage to rule space. Now, the undeclared war of sides is raging over the pandemic. More people have died from COVID-19 than all the Americans that were killed in WW2, and the Vietnam war together, yet we are more divided than at any other time in our history. Here we have another history lesson with Afghanistan, or maybe all these smart people missed the history that no one in the history of the World did anyone conquer this country. Even the Russians, couldn’t defeat Afghanistan!! In an interview after we pulled out of Vietnam, Mao said if the bombing had continued for two more weeks, Vietnam would have capitulated. Then what? We were as unprepared for a win, as we were for a loss. Even now, individuals in Congress are saying it was a bad decision to pull out. We spent $6 trillion in Afghanistan, and what did we see for the investment? Congress won’t spend $3.5 trillion on America, yet have no problem spending our money on a war in a foreign country! What a bunch of hypocrites. This is also why we have to take money out of politics. We have to get rid of parties. People have to run on their own principles without the partisan politics today. They are there to serves their constituents, not line their pockets. The Supreme Court should be the same: run on their merits as a judge and the law, not a court based on politics. These are the issues that are in front of us, that must be addressed, if we are to have a fair, equitable, diverse country to live in.
Time to sober up! As you stated in a talk Marianne, yup we all partied, had that time, and NOW is the time, to be the Women & Men God Created Us to Be!
Wizard of Oz~~”You had it in you the whole time dear”❤️✨❤️
The U.S. has conclusively proven its ineptitude in reducing terrorist activity, they have been sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. I really don't see whose authority the U.S. military thinks it has earned to go about causing destruction decade after decade. Afghanistan wasn't interested in foreign interference, and without consent, America could never have had any success. No country should accept help considering this track record of failure and financial mismanagement.
However, since the U.S. is the world's richest country and has the largest military, should it not exclusively aid the United Nations? America can't be trusted to engage in war independently, due to their longstanding tradition of committing war crimes, plus they would save money on bogus "defense." Looking at UN stats, the U.S. provides a great deal of financial assistance, which is great, but doesn't contribute many troops. The UN seems more qualified and genuine in their mission, follow peacekeeping principles, and have ongoing operations. I think with the right style of cooperation and leadership, America could start to repair its reputation.
Adam, I concur with the U.S. needing to align more with the U.N. But my fantasy dream is that civilization end warfare, and instead convert military endeavors to mitigating the consequences of climate change: a military corps to help Mother Earth thrive again!
With you 100%. I guess the value I see is in this is that the U.S. would reduce its warfare entirely, while aligning with an organization that uses force strictly as a last resort. Humans are an aggressive species; we have to be prepared with a military when entering a hostile situation, but in the right hands there is always a nonviolent solution as an outcome for the long run.
Hi Adam, yes nonviolence should be our first choice. Unfortunately, money is the name of the game--prompting useless wars for the defense contractors, etc. The people must rise up against seeking the treasure chests from war! Our planet cannot endure this anymore. I hope a new trend gains success. Thanks for sharing!
January 17th is the day my two greatest tragedies happened twice. As a U.S citizen will be paying $19,696.9696 out of your income for the next few years cost of the Afghanistan conflict / war. But only half the U.S citizens work so its actually 40k each, including your children. Was it worth it? Plus life lost Karma.. Americans Borrowed this money, to pay for this War (occupation) from the Bankers with interest (usury). You will be taxed and pay the bill in the future you and your kids, and theirs. Emotional scars last longer. Defense Contractor Shareholders and more Profited. For the cost of the War we could have paid everyone in Afghanistan $170,872.76 each not to fight and build an infrastructure. Total Cost: 6.5 trillion and Total Afghanistan Population: 38.04 million and Eliminated THE HUMAN COST:
American service members killed in Afghanistan through April: 2,448.
U.S. contractors: 3,846.
Afghan national military and police: 66,000.
Other allied service members, including from other NATO member states: 1,144.
Thank you. Though it was al qaeda, not the taliban, we went to root out, which we did by sending it to Pakistan within 18 months, but then we stayed to colonize, i mean "bring democracy."
Eric, your assessment of my country, the U.S.A., is sadly on point! We are not striving hard enough to rid our society of dualistic thinking and there are still deep-seeded biases about others as the fearful 'other'; plus, we still foster a hierarchal system of power and money that seems so outdated when we have to save Mother Earth! I am behind systemic change for all institutions, based on true love and caring and not competition against the other that truly is no other! I relish your statement: "The markets do not want to provide everyone with a more peaceful world." This is an ugly truth that manifests on Wall Street 24/7! I avoid investing in aerospace-defense industries as well as the fossil-fuel emitters. I am hoping the younger generation continues to rise-up on these issues and not play the game any longer. Peace, Joan
