May our hearts not only be broken, but may they be broken open, and may this open heart guide us, rather than using the ego, the brain, the mind, the desire mind, and the power hungry guidance in the domination culture that the last 5000 years has ruled humanity.
Yes, we get what we focus on and now we have a chance to create something different, but the same principle guides the results - what we focus our attention on we will get more of that. So, if we focus on what's broken and what isn't working - we will just get more of that, but it will look differently. If we focus on what's possible and what we want to experience - those opportunities will be presented to us to create something new and different. It's up to us the kind of world we live in - what are you choosing?
“Miracles are everyone’s right, but purification is necessary first.” Let us look at the darkness and step forward into our healing. God has mercy upon us.
Here and now, the nation as a whole can be rededicated to the proposition that ALL humans are REALLY created equal. As a wise preacher said, in 2023, "All means all".
Here in the U.K. it's hard to watch what is happening to your country, and the rest of the world as a result. The good thing about rock bottom is that there's one way to go.
We can see how damaging complacency is. Things will change, but yes this is a dark hour. Thank you for your words Marianne! 🕊️🙏🏻
Your brave words ring true, We are in a fever, brought on by conditions made worse with denial. From the early days of this country and humanity, there have been so many achievements, but also too many missteps , mistakes, and actual criminality in our governments and society that have yet to be acknowledged.
I don’t think it was built on lies. It was built on profound moral and philosophical principles. But 41 of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were slave owners, so that dichotomy between good and evil was there from the beginning. Other generations have risen up and made right that which had been wrong. We should honor that. It’s our turn now.
Not everything is about our opinion. There are historical facts that I don’t think we should easily discard just because they don’t fit in with a chosen narrative.
I've been following you for years. This is the first time I've disagreed with you so I will respect that we have a difference of perspective here. However, I would like to know what historical fact you are referring to.
I read this post, and then today's ACIM lesson (99 "Salvation is my only function here."). It said:
"Unshaken does the Holy Spirit look on what you see; on sin and pain and death, on grief and separation and on loss. Yet does He know one thing must still be true; God is still Love, and this is not His Will ... Forgive yourself the thought He wanted this for you."
In his book, the Rising American Empire, Richard Van Alstyne demonstrates that the founders of the states that named themselves "United," understood themselves to be founding an empire. George Washington "and his contemporaries," writes Van Alstyne, "had in mind" an "imperium--a dominion, state or sovereignty that would expand in population and territory, and increase in strength and power." As a Native person of this Turtle Island continent, my decades of research has enabled me to see that the "First Principles" of the U.S. trace back to a claim of a right of domination based on the belief that they were breaking away from the British Empire to found their own empire. Twice the U.S. Supreme Court has called the United States "the American empire." "It is a creature of the classical Roman-British tradition," states Van Alstyne. Annie is spot on with her phrase "culture of domination." My point is this: I believe we need to go deeper with our analysis of what actually dealing with. Thanks for your efforts to stimulate dialogue and discussion, Marianne, and for inspiring your readers to chime in!
The expansion Washington talked about was on the north American continent, from the east to the West Coast of what is now the United States. He did not in any way call for an imperialism towards other countries and he made that clear.
In many respects, humans have turned into headline-grabbing, crowd-following, influencer- worshipping automatons. A whole generation of people, whose parents never learned to be examples, navigated life on the internet and feel more alienated than ever. Sensational, hate-filled headlines go viral in hours. Our brains are on overload. We need to take a deep, collective breath and return to love (Yes, Marianne, I read it thirty years ago (thank you).
That’s powerful language, but it leans more on moral framing than clear analysis.
Discernment matters. Terms like “cancer,” “collapse,” and “dark night” create a sense of inevitability and shared guilt without separating specific actions, causes, or evidence. It feels profound, but it compresses complexity into a single moral narrative.
Where it holds: a call to examine values and responsibility has merit.
Where it stretches: it treats broad cultural decline as established fact rather than something that needs to be demonstrated case by case.
If renewal is the goal, it has to start with clarity about what actually happened, not just how it feels.
Dear marianne. First of all I must say that since three weeks I don t read newspapers anymore. I mentally got almost sick of it. But I read your substacks and I watch your video's on youtube.
I light candles frequently and I contemplate and do soulsearching every day almost.

This nation was started and built on lies, deception and cruelty beyond any reason. It was destined to crumble from within. A house built on sand...

I THINK it was built on lies. Ask my Ancestors. What good is "what you say" if you do not DO "what you say?" Some of us would like to know.
