I'm glad we have time to finish studying the book (I'm reading the hard copy), but I did look again at the content of the emails and couldn't find an email that specifically mentioned a date change. I will make a comment on my reading so far -
So much of what is happening is an "in our face" exaggeration of what your clear recounting of the history of our country foretold if we didn't drastically course-correct and return to first principles. I especially am taken by the moment when success defined as material gain overtook the democratic ideals of liberty, justice and the pursuit of happiness for all.
I see the giant A.I. processing centers, like "Hyperion," the one Meta is building in Louisiana the size of the Island of Manhattan, akin to constructing giant temples to worship false idols - shedding new light for me about the ancient warning not to worship false idols.
We are worshiping so many of them in this toxic form of capitalism and the corporate take-over which has overcome our politics, as you point out, devoid of compassion or concern for planet and the well-being of all. I plan to write more about the ethics of these A.I. centers which should give us pause.
I believe that this is a unique point in history where we have the power of choice to walk into a future consciously selecting the best from our past, present and future - including utilizing the humanitarian aspects of new technologies instead of the exploitative ones - returning to "love," ethics and the promise of the first principles for the first time truly for all and planet (with repair to those harmed including Earth herself) or... as you point out face the consequences of not...
We have more choice about our future than I think most people believe, and, yes, knowing our history and what is happening in our current times gives us the power of informed choice. Thank you for facilitating our understanding. Can't wait for the session!
