CLASS 2 is TODAY!
Activating spiritual power in the reclamation of our democracy
Hi, everyone. Class 2 in our Spiritual Activism class begins today at 12pmPT/3pmET.
When Gandhi said “politics should be sacred,” he didn’t mean it should follow the dogma or doctrine of a religious system. He meant it should be a deeper conversation, a more heartfelt pursuit than we normally associate with politics. In yesterday’s class we discussed how damaging it has been to our country that politics has become so soulless.
The challenge of our time is to change that. Gandhi also said “the end is inherent in the means,” which means that everything we do is infused with the consciousness with which we do it. The politics that will save the world is as much a call to change ourselves as it is a call to change external events.
What is the new politics, infused with spiritual understanding? It’s understanding not only how traditional politics works, but also how the universe works. And how the heart works. Traditional politics in many ways created our problem; an entirely new paradigm of politics will solve it.
In yesterday’s class, we discussed ways that We the People allowed the debacle that has come upon us. We farmed out our best thinking. Too often we gave up critical thought. We assumed institutions and “politics experts” knew more than we did. And look where we are now.
But the universe is self-correcting. All systems of nature know how to self-heal. We’re having the conversation we’re having in this class, in order that we might become the conduits of a healed society.
I love this quote by Nobel Laureate Ilya Prigogine: “When a complex system is far from equilibrium, small islands of coherence in a sea of chaos have the capacity to shift the system to a higher order.”
How does that happen? What is the mechanism? And how do each of us play our part? Join me for a discussion of political new-think, in which we recognize that forces beyond the rational mind can organize better than we can. On the material plane, we’re in big big trouble. In the bigger picture, we’ve only just begun to claim our power as democratic citizens. It’s time to use that power, in the presence of which all forms of tyranny will fall away.
