Amen, Marianne! Thanks for such clarity on this issue. Congresspeople and their families should NOT be “in the stock market” in addition to all the other ways money holds them in such lockstep to corporations’ interests over those of the people. I’m totally on board with Sen. Osoff and Rep. Golden’s proposals to ban stock transactions by Congress-people and their families and am ready to get loud about it!

On a related note, where did Nancy Pelosi find $500 million in military funds to rush to Ukraine when we can’t extend the child tax credit, reduce student loan debt, extend Medicare for all, etc. etc., etc.? Always money for war, never enough for the people our government is meant to serve.

Thank you for speaking about this so clearly. You are spot on. My husband & I were so upset when the Supreme Court allowed corporations to give unlimited amounts of money to get someone elected. I still can’t believe the stupidity or audacity of that decision.

Congressional Rep Dan Crenshaw said he needed to trade because he did not make enough money-- really. Average salary $ 175, 000, great medical plan and 7 months of work and he need more $$$. Nancy Pelosi says: "she trusts that her colleagues will do the right thing". REALLY dream on Nancy and if you believe that-- I have an island that I can sell you for various beads and trinkets worth about $16 called Manhattan -- remember Indians they trust type like you too.

Excellent and true essay. I am shocked to hear that some Republicans are on board with your ideas. Aren't these the same people who are behind Trump's Big Lie? I think the other big issue is that Republicans up for re-election feel they have to continue to defend Trump's ideas and actions for fear of not getting re-elected if they don't. The Republican party is still the party of Trump, sad to say.

Even worse Mark, it seems Trump has morphed the so-called Republican party into a neo-facist or authoritarian party. Hopefully, some well-balanced conservatives can overcome this awful trend. I became an Independent when I realized the corruption going on within both major parties--evidenced, in part, by what Marianne writes about today!

THANK YOU, MARIANNE WILLIAMSON! I continually carry the wish that we lived in a world where you were a realistic contender for the presidency; and, a majority of people were smart enough to "perceive their own self-interest." When Colbert joked that you wanted "to heal the country with incense and crystals" I thought, ""Why not?!? None of the half-measured B.S. attempts have worked so far." "The clearing of the mist" may be "The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius;" whatever, our hope is that it's a spiritual renewal moving in the air: for at bottom, it seems a spiritual crises we must address.

1 TIMOTHY 6:10 KJV - - "For the love of money is the root of all evil" and the cause of much suffering and sorrow.

1 Timothy 6:10 Standard - - "For the love of money is the root of all evil. Not the money itself, which if used as by a steward of God is a blessing . . . "

I hope we all, your attendants, have heard the call to make our voice heard. After ceasing to communicate with my legislators because of many off-putting condescending letters of telling me between the lines that I just didn't understand the big picture, (I live in Florida!); I now understand that anyone who has even a finger or toe planted in "the real" can benefit "the big picture" by communication to whomever has clout in the legislature and to The White House directly. I have heard tell that more than a singular passionate letter elaborating good sense, the numbers of communication on any given issue are what sway the politicos. We know that the majority of them have the number one priority of staying in office; and, for many of them the motive is for self-enrichment.

1 Timothy 6:10 - - "For the love of money is the root of all evil. Not the money itself, which if used as by a steward of God is a blessing . . . "

Marianne, thank you for your passion, wisdom and tireless energy in getting the word out on our broken political system. I have been following and reading you for many years and you have made me a better Human through your work. I went through the workbook Course in Miracles with you last year and I feel I know you personally now and for that I am Blessed. So I know you are on the side of Movement for the Peoples Party, or at least feel that it's a worthwhile effort...Why can't we sell this idea of a Party that does not accept financial donations from corporations to the American Public? We could enact all the Big Changes we want in the next three years just by voting both Parties out of office completely! Term Limits, Lobbyists, Big Everything could be gone forever if We The People Vote this corrupt Government out in it's entirety and keep politicians that are on the side of the people and entered into this arena to help America....I believe as you do that there are a bunch of them out there...but by all of them being under the umbrella of Act Blue their efforts will be in vain because the Democratic Party is owned and run by Big Money! I know you can influence citizens who care to move in a direction of positive change instead of us just complaining and blaming each other. Deepak was right when he said we need a third party and that you should be leading it!!! I know you don't want to be on the front line but getting you involved more closely with PeoplesParty.org could change our country in a short amount of time! God Bless you for your work in this lifetime!
