I feel like we've been lobsters in a slowly boiling pot. Now the water is getting pretty hot.

The question remains: how do we get term limits imposed on our legislative branch !? That , in itself , would do wonders to curtail the corrupt lifetime politicians who are in the pocket of all the corporate interests!

We need to bring back Occupy, so why don't we at least TRY. I read Chris Hedge's article after listening to you, Donziger and Chris Hedges on Katie Halper's program tonight; his statement that this over the top case by judge Kaplan and judge Presca is intentional as a show of force to the rest of us says to me we must bring back Occupy. We must bring back Occupy. We must. And we can start with an action based on what Chris Hedges said tonight - a presence, a non-violent presence of 500,000 strong showing up at a non-threatening distance from the Dept of Justice or other appropriate site and reading Chris Hedge's article, every single day, 365 days a year for as long as it takes. Each day, different 'We The People' can take turns reading the facts for all to hear. And so perhaps begin Occupy; but this time it will be so widespread that it can not be shut down. It must carry on. So how do we begin Marianne? Can you help us make a beginning?

I wrote too soon, and it's late, and so errors are made in thinking. A few hundred thousand was never enough, and it was not enough in 2003 when for one day people demonstrated against the Iraq war. It must eventually be in the hundreds of millions, non-violent, daily and non-stop. The law we can rally behind already exists; it is Article 25 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It says: all have a human right to food, shelter, health care, and social services. It was written by a group headed by Eleanor Roosevelt, women and men from multiple countries and adopted by the United Nations in the 1940's. Mohammed Mesbahi, founder of www.sharing.org. has written clearly and deeply - how we can implement our people power, the simplicity of it was overwhelming for me. You can read it at sharing.org, titled: HERALDING ARTICLE 25, A PEOPLE'S STRATEGY FOR WORLD TRANSFORMATION.

Marilyn, I believe the answer lies in duration. The Iraq war demonstration was the largest number in world history, BUT it was only one day. The climate demonstrations were big, but again, they only lasted so long. We must demonstrate 24/7, non-violently, with hundreds of millions, and non-stop for it to make a difference. The founder of www.sharing.org makes a very in-depth, easy to understand case why this would work and what it means. The article is titled, "Heralding Article 25, A People's Strategy For World Transformation" It is on the sharing.org website. He is a member of the U.N.

Steven, my heart aches over this injustice being done to you. I just made a contribution to your Legal Defense Fund and will be making calls on your behalf early this morning. I hope and pray that you and your family stay strong and keep the faith as you endure this nightmare. Many are with you in this fight for justice. As Dr. King said, “Justice denied anywhere diminishes justice everywhere.” We’re with you!

When I made the comment about Jill Stein, I then said immediately "This isn't about her personally, I like her!" and I feel bad that my "We don't want to be Jill Steins" comment was taken out of context. I personally emailed her this morning to apologize. I had not realized I was being called up to the stage last night, I didn't expect it, and I was speaking extemporaneously. I told Andrew I think the idea of an empowered third party is a good idea, risky, but someone needs to do it. As I said last night, "Why do we have 16 brands of toothpaste but only 2 brands of political candidate?" So please don't misunderstand where my head is at. We do need an alternative to the corporate duopoly, but Andrew may or may not be the person who an take the idea forward. I don't know yet.

Marianne, I understand the out of context scenario (just a blip) but what's even more disconcerting was the reality from tonight's broadcast about Donziger and hearing about the advertising money related to the NYTs from Hedges! So discouraging--and many folks live by those NYT's articles. Plus, Marianne, you were right about the negligence of journalists these days--I was trained by the University of Minnesota School of Journalism in the late 60s--most stories today would get Fs by my professors for lacking of due diligence--as you so well implied.

Equally sad is news from the Co-Founder of Human Extinction Rupert Read that he's not seeing anything promising coming out of the COP 26 conference in Glasgow this coming November. I was on a webinar with Humanity Rising and Read was the guest. Another participant said we need to plan a parallel governance and other systems as well to endure what's ahead. I like that idea! The current power-mad greed players are putting all co-habitants on Earth into extinction and somehow think they'll be okay! (More meditation tonight along with soothing music! Thanks, again, for all you do and keep well and safe.)

Agree! Advertising controls are media networks even PBS! So one must seek nonprofit outlets: makes it tough to find truth these days. It's easy to control everyone when few have an opportunity to do research and that makes authoritarian rule very possible. Sobering.
