“This isn’t even just authoritarianism. It’s totalitarianism. And the next step after that is fascism. This is real, and it is happening now.” …

Take this seriously because you could be the next person to be thrown down on the floor and handcuffed for daring to ask a question !!!

Where will this stop? This is creating more violence than the alleged aliens/immigrants are causing.

Exactly. The amount of violence committed by undocumented people in this country is TINY compared to violence committed by native born Americans.

Should violent criminals be arrested and thrown out of this country? OF COURSE. No one disagrees with that! The President is creating this spectacle as an excuse to militarize the country. It's very grave.

Is the vice chair of the DNC an elected official?

No, David was an elected officer of the DNC.

I certainly hope that Alex Padilla is MORE vocal after today. In fact, every Democratic senator not named Chuck Schumer ought to be more vocal.

Does that mean Schumer is vocal enough?

Haha! It means he doesn't want to be vocal.

HOLY SHIT!!!! Thank you, Marianne, thank you for drawing this disgraceful event to our attention. They are doing everything they possibly can to provoke a violent response, but WE REMAIN COMMITTED TO A PEACEFUL, NONVIOLENT response to a monstrous threat. May God be with us.

There is absolutely NO reason, NONE, that he had to manhandled that way. Cops, I've seen them all my life be abusive. I have never trusted law enforcement nor the military. And I have family in both. They are decendants from slave patrol, so they're trained not to think of you as humans. This is the great amerikkka? We've NEVER been great, and never will be, not like this.

Thank you Marianne for you direct and historically and legally grounded words. This is a very scary time and it makes me feel safer knowing that someone who aligns with love and not the fear this regimes is trying to dominate the conversation with! 👏🏻

I so agree - where is the Democratic Party taking action? All I see is them continually asking for money - for what? To ask more questions????

Our soldiers and high rank personnel know the basis of their job and they know it is to protect.

Dear God please bring soldiers and all law enforcement personnel to their right senses.

May we all unite.

Thank you, Marianne. Thank you for staying and being one of the most honest voices.

May God keep us safe and strong.

The people who go to these large Gatherings are going to need training in non-violent communication skills and protest tactics.

Back in the day the people of my generation taught them. I hope they passed their skills on to a younger generation.

When they lay hands on a sitting Senator for daring to ask a question, the alarm bells aren’t subtle anymore. The Rubicon is in the rearview, friends.

And yes—march in peace, but march we must. Every song, every prayer, every unbroken line matters now. And while we march, spread the Virgin Monk Boy Overcoming Christian Nationalism meme. It speaks where some mouths dare not.

Let the truth be louder than their fear.

What's really happening couldn't be simpler. We have reached a critical point in the (real) human journey; you can do wrong things with ever increasing power for only so long before the consequences of that wrongness become overwhelming. That's what's happening now; we're not in this mess because of what we've done right, but because of what we've done wrong.

This is (and always has been, and always will be) a purely spiritual affair, having to do with the difference between Right and Wrong; specifically, with our deadly belief that anything wrong is a necessary, unavoidable part of Life. No, anything wrong (ANYTHING) is a part of Death. The pain that comes with wrongdoing is God's "NO!" sign. DON'T DO THAT!!!

It is our destiny to wake up, see this, and realize that our goal must be to rid ourselves completely and permanently from all Wrong. "Be ye perfect..." said Jesus, and we will be. Remember, the Prodigal Son goes home after wandering in the wilderness, and the Prodigal Son is us. Joni Mitchell said it perfectly: "We are stardust; we are golden, and we've got to get ourselves back to The Garden."

There is tremendous opportunity in our present peril...

I understand your reticence. How can we collectively find those that are willing to serve in all forms of our government? Many that run do it for financial gain. How can we reverse that? Additionally, the diatribe that our social media and news have created, makes good people uninspired to serve.
