Yes we have seen this coming, we have been horrified at the feeble responses from Congress in opposition to this power takeover. I'm sure the haters will defend the tactics of federal agents who have apparently unlimited power. The propaganda machine is very busy with lies, exaggerations, myths and many distractions. Fortunately the protesters are being trained on using peaceful tactics to march, it's worked for other nations and it will hearten us to stay strong. We thought we were safe from fascism, but alas, we are not.
First of all, there have been very impressive stances from Democratic Congresspeople and Governors, etc. They do deserve credit. And judges have been fantastic! The issue is that we need more action in concert. I said in my campaigns, "Trump has ushered in a era of political theatre and we will not be going back."
I will admit that I'm not following the news as closely as you so kudos to those representatives and judges. In my limited view, it's too little and too slow but as a legal immigrant and naturalized citizen, and daughter of Holocaust survivors, this is all too reminiscent of the horrors of WW2 and my parents' journey when they were not allowed to come to the USA because they were hiding in occupied France and could be dangerous to the country. Seeing people taken from their homes or the street or even before their naturalization ceremonies is too painful. So my view is not as free of sorrow. However, you Marianne are an anchor for so many and your amazing compassion, fills us with hope.
