Midterms are the chance for Republicans who care about democracy, our Constitution, and our country to vote Democrat. On the other hand, MAGA is a cult and the role of a cult member is to follow their leader. They know they can't win votes, so voter intimidation and massive purges of registered voters are in the blue prints for banning suspected "blue" voters from the polls. We must be careful!
Make it clear: the Trump presidency ends as we know it this November if we do our job. The midterms have to be too big to rig, like 2008, 2012 and 2020, so big that any manipulation is impossible to hide. Persuade people to vote. Republicans want to try to rule America forever. We can't let that happen!
As horrible as WWII was, think about how different the world was in ten years time. We went from centuries and millennia of it being normal and acceptable for nations to just kill the neighbors and steal their stuff. Then it was more different than anyone could have imagined with the new "rules-based world order". That order still had corruption and deception and that has gotten worse, but that worseness may have awakened us enough to precipitate an equally transformative "new world order" in a surprisingly short time. As Marianne says, meditate. Our hearts can bring it about. Love those who are deluded. They are not happy and they need us to save them. If you do not love your enemy, then you have chosen hell. Choices have consequences.....choose well. The darkness seeks to divide us in fear and anger and hatred. But OUR choices determine our outcome, not theirs.
What’s breaking right now is not just the law, but the idea that power should be restrained at all.
That’s why this feels so destabilizing. The attack is not only political or legal; it’s psychological. It’s an assault on the public nervous system. Flood the field, exhaust people, normalize the outrageous, and make resistance feel futile.
So yes, we need votes and strategy. But we also need the inner strength not to be mentally conquered by the spectacle.
Love, in a time like this, is not softness. It is moral force. It is the refusal to surrender what is human to what is cruel.

Marianne -- Perhaps the very most alarming thing is his declaring everyone will be pardoned when he leaves. That's a criminal license NOW. He's not just ceasing to hide his misdeeds, but he's given everyone in the administration a permit to carry out criminal activity. Why aren't there alarm bells about how beyond the beyond this is?
I see it as a meta alarm. EVERYTHING anyone does is prima facie okay. Pre-pardoned. He's got the whole farm as the feifdom he directs, so not even any more lawsuits or any legal resistance to what he does.

While I keep love and hope in my heart, I am donating $5,000 to support the Election Protection Program of Common Cause (CC). While I am not wealthy, I have some resources and believe that now is the time to make my savings available to keep us back from the brink. I will propose a collaborative effort between CC's election protection efforts and NYCLU's recent legal case on racial profiling to minimize voter suppression and ICE intimidation.
