We have already lost so many freedoms. The world needs honesty, truth, facts, evidence. Julian is all of that and more. His freedom is our freedom. UK, grow some backbone and do what is right. Americans, think who you vote for. Thank you Marianne.
While I fully endorse Stella Morris's position on Julian Assange, I would say that Trumps most damaging legacy not be will be that fact that he is responsible for Assanges current position , it will be that he signed the EUA into law which has led to the death and permanent injury of hundreds of millions of Americans.
One of the clearest and most helpful pieces I've read on Assange. Thanks so much for helping me tie up loose ends for myself and understand this in a bigger context.
Perhaps if what he leaked could be republished and reexamine the case against him would dissappear? What WERE the facts that sent manning to jail? Do we have a free press, or bought propaganda puppets feeding us pablum?
I truly appreciate your perspective on many things and am grateful how your ethics have helped channel good in myself and in the world. You are terribly wrong on this Assange issue. Please read my last email on these essential points. Assange released only documentation that hurt Hilary Clinton and Democratic leaders during the Trump crisis. He was actively part of the Russian campaign to sew misinformation and support a Trump victory. Please look at the facts in this case - he is not practicing free speech any more than Trump. He is actively involved in harming one group while protecting corrupt groups through stolen information. Assange practiced and participated in corruption on the level of nation interference in information campaigns targeted to support Trump. It is shocking to me that you do not see this clearly.
If you want to make a case for free speech and support justice fir a true whistleblower - get involved with activism for Edward Snowden who was focused on exposing the connections of corruption. The HUGE difference between the 2 is that Snowden exposed all the players - the US and UK for the express purpose of helping American better understand the corruption of our governments after 9/11. Snowden went to the NYTimes and sought credible ways to expose corruption.
Assange has no such interest and released formation to the highest bidders, only exposing some and protecting others. He is actively involved in the corruption of society for the express purpose of disrupting for political gain.
It is discouraging to see you on the wrong side of the misinformation wars that is wrecking so much havoc worldwide. Assange is no champion for free speech - he is a villain for influencing elections through misinformation. Please stop sending these emails and supporting a corrupt information hack. You are better than this.
So, you are saying the problem is not that Hillary and DNC on her behalf stole votes from Bernie, but the problem is that Julian showed they did it? And you still believe in Russia gate? God save us from CNN and MSNBC schooled Clintonites.
Thank you for your work and your voice on this Marianne. It is so important for so many reasons. I hope people will watch this interview and study the case if they are not familiar with it before making judgements based on propaganda. This has been nothing short of a witch hunt - a violation of human rights and a grave danger to what is left of press freedom in this world.
Assange allegedly didn’t just passively accept classified information that was transmitted to him. The allegation in the indictment is that he “actively tr[ied] to crack [a] password pursuant to [an] agreement” he had with Manning.
According to the indictment, Assange had reason to believe that public disclosure of the information he disclosed would put lives of local assets at risk. What did Assange tell reporters?- “Well, they’re informants. So, if they get killed, they’ve got it coming to them. They deserve it.”
Also according to the indictment, ““[S]ome of the Afghanistan War Reports [Assange disseminated] included detailed reports of [IED] attacks…. The enemy could use these … to plan future IED attacks because they …. revealed countermeasures used by [U.S.] forces … and potential limitations to those countermeasures.”
If Assange has any kind of reasonable explanations for those things, fine - let him tell them to a court in America. It’s time to stop treating this guy like he’s some kind of hero.
Do you know that the only witness against Julian (a crook from Iceland) admitted he was bribed by CIA to testify against him? Have you read that they made plans to kill him while in Ecuadorian embassy? You are citing the indictment, but have you read anything from his defence - just to hear both sides? I suppose there is no need for that, because you trust that your government never lied to you. Sweet dreams.
Mira - Much of the evidence against Assange apparently is in the form of electronic communications. The case doesn’t rest entirely on the witness you reference. You jump to assuming I would only believe one side. That’s not true. Assange’s trial will be an engine for truth. I’ll listen to his defense. Let’s get him here, put him on trial, and hear what he has to say. (Might I suggest that you’re the one who isn’t open to looking at the full picture?)
You missed the point, Geoff. Do you really expect the same institutions that tried to kill Julian would give him a fair trial? In Virginia? Think again.
No, you’ve missed the point. You’ve been completely taken in by the Assange propaganda machine. Of course he can get a fair trial here. The allegations against him are that he put people’s lives at risk. You’d give him a free ride on that. I don’t. If he’s as innocent as you think he is, let him come here and put on his defense. If all he was doing was acting as the NYTimes would have, in accepting information and exposing government wrongdoing, I’ll be 100% rooting for him. If, on the other hand, the evidence establishes what he’s charged with, I’ll hope he spends a very, very long time in a jail cell.
The man, who spent seven years in Ecuadorian embassy and almost three years in UK prison has a "propaganda machine"? That is rich... If Julian is guilty, why the need to fabricate a witness or to plot to kill him? Please, don’t read further without seriously considering that question. Then ask yourself, if Snowden is not ‘problematic’ like Assange, why is he still in exile instead of being pardoned? Perhaps he is not aware how just US courts are for political prisoners, especially those in Virginia. It is beyond naivety to expect that the same system, which is killing Julian in a slow motion, will get him or any other whistle-blower a fair trial. Please, listen to Marianne’s conversation with Steven Donziger, since you are already on her channel. It lays bare the fairness and impartiality of US courts.
A bit of statistics to put things into perspective. Since WW2 the US was involved in (started overtly or covertly) about 30 combat wars not to mention about 70 embargos or economic wars killing civilians by lack of access to medications and other necessities. These are all sovereign countries that US unilaterally decided to 'help bring democracy to.' It is purely coincidental, of course, that they were positioned either on strategically important geo-political locations or on big natural reserves of oil or now lithium and other high tech needed materials. It is a well-known fact that the whole war-machine is a highly profitable money making and money laundering business, which is why both parties regularly approve obscene amounts of money for military budget. Afghanistan war has ended with the country left in ruins, so let's see where to start the next one - in Ukraine (war with Russia) or in Taiwan (war with China)? As you can see, there is always plenty of funds for yet another war, while no funds can be found for medicare for all, student debt, minimum wage increase, etc. Whose interests these wars serve? Who is getting richer and who is paying the price? If you are in doubt, it is our tax money and we are getting poorer, not richer.
Wikileaks provided a safe platform for whistle-blowers, who were exposing the inconvenient and embarrassing facts and evidence hidden from the American people. It is a well concocted lie propagated by corporate media that the published information endangered lives - American lives, of course. Follow the money and listen to the sources with no conflict of interest, whether financial or political. Hear what independent thinkers like Marianne, Chomsky and Glenn Greenwald, have to say about Assange’s and Snowden’s "crimes."
Of course it’s propaganda that’s being cranked out on Assange’s behalf. It’s absurd to think he’d be convicted if there wouldn’t be sufficient evidence against him. I have faith in our judiciary here, as well as the ability to discern if things would go awry. If there’d be any kind of injustice in the process, I’d speak up, as would many others. But for all of you guys to say he shouldn’t even face trial,- no, that’s just plain nonsense.
Also, the very big mistake being made by his supporters is their not understanding — or their willfully ignoring — that he did an absolutely massive data dump of hundreds of thousands of electronic files. Are you seriously going to try to say that all of those come within a credible claim of whistleblowing? That’s just ridiculous. Take, for instance, the allegations regarding his having disclosed files having to do with IED attacks, and the methods used to combat them. When he’s hauled before a court of law here in the U.S., I’ll be most interested to hear how he’ll justify that as a form of whistleblowing.
As an Australian, I can only say thank you Marianne for this article. Many Aussies are shocked at the U.S. treatment of Julian and the complete lack of integrity shown by the Whitehouse through their failure to investigate war crimes. Chelsea Manning has paid a high price for her integrity. How does any society call itself civilized, Australia too, when we wage wars that destroy civilians lives, homes, infrastructure, environment and economies? May the Great Awakening bring us closer to sanity, reason and humane integrity. May all the power of Divine Love and Wisdom free all the truth tellers, Julian, Chelsea, Witness K in Australia. Amen
Biden needs to pardon him.
We have already lost so many freedoms. The world needs honesty, truth, facts, evidence. Julian is all of that and more. His freedom is our freedom. UK, grow some backbone and do what is right. Americans, think who you vote for. Thank you Marianne.

We need to keep on sharing this and spread it far and wide.
Perhaps if what he leaked could be republished and reexamine the case against him would dissappear? What WERE the facts that sent manning to jail? Do we have a free press, or bought propaganda puppets feeding us pablum?
Enjoyed this. Quick tip. I paragraph 3, the word should be "extradited", not "expedited". Keep up the good work.
Thank you
Thank you for who you are and what you stand for Marianne. 🙏🏾

Watch the video. Then read what you wrote here. You have fallen prey to propaganda.
So, you are saying the problem is not that Hillary and DNC on her behalf stole votes from Bernie, but the problem is that Julian showed they did it? And you still believe in Russia gate? God save us from CNN and MSNBC schooled Clintonites.
Thank you, my thoughts exactly.

Right ON♥️ It is time to wake up and speak up. Julian Assange … Release !
CUNT SAYS WHAT?

And her description of her husband is touching.
I *will* say the part of this interview re: Pompeo is chilling to say the least....
I am truly sorry that you are so completely smitten with this very problematic man.
