Many people seem resigned to the situation in which we find ourselves as Americans. But perhaps they don’t realize what they are resigning themselves to. Americans have been so blessed by the fruits of liberty, taking for granted rights and privileges which will not be guaranteed should things continue as they are unfolding now.
No, our country’s not perfect nor has it ever been. But compared to life in a totalitarian state, most American lives are incredibly fortunate. We are teetering now on the loss of freedoms that those before us fought for bravely, in many cases sacrificing their lives so we could enjoy them.
This is a moment to en-courage each other. The Abolitionists, the Suffragists, the early Labor organizers and Civil Rights certainly all had desperate days.
They triumphed however, and so will we.
