Who would have thought that the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner would give us so much to think about?
The line that stays in my mind a lot these days is this: O’er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. I get now, in a way I never realized before, that the two go hand in hand.
We will not be free if we will not be brave.
How naive we were, ever thinking our freedoms were eternally guaranteed. But we’re naive no longer. And all over America, people are on the rise.
