"The political ascent of Donald Trump was a symptom, not a cause, of our descent. He is a human manifestation of our spiritual void."

Interesting. I also had a dream with a much younger Donald last week. I was visiting co-workers at a former workplace. He was sitting catty corner to my left and just behind me. I heard his gravelly voice and my first thought: avoid eye contact at any cost. Walk away. But something happened. He wasn't there to make trouble; just conversation. He said, "They're making too big a deal about all this. It's all going to work out."

It's unclear who "they" were in this, but the frame I came to see this dream in wasn't about denial or demagoguery: this was a higher reality. One where he hadn't been starved of love and twisted by Roy Cohn. One where he wanted to reassure.

The friends with whom I shared this dream said he couldn't be trusted. He was manipulating me. And of course, on this plane, that is what's happening.

But what if, as you point out, Marianne, we could cast things into the light? Step out on a new path? What if the power is in--and with us?

That's my prayer, anyway. May it be so!

Fascinating dream...maybe it was a message from his higher self that everything will work out for our country.

I'd like to think so. But on this level, we still need to do all we can to lift and enlighten, if we want to bring our "new democracy" dreams to fruition.

Some good points. However, I don't believe we're projecting darkness onto him. He is spewing a dark, oily, greasy, dirty energy and evoking the same from inside of some people. They are then projecting it onto the planet as a whole causing more polluted spirits, as well as polluting the physical earth, air and water.

I was responding to this sentence: "His story is what I think of as Dark Americana. It’s a part of who we are, and we miss the point if we project all the darkness onto him." I don't think the darkness is being projected onto him, it's being projected from him.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Here’s where MW lost me…” Late Twentieth Century America was a celebration of the amoral, and the amoral will always lead to immoral consequences. That made us easy prey for Donald Trump, just as a young Donald Trump was easy prey for Roy Cohen. It makes all of us easy prey for the darkness of the world, which is the darkness in our hearts, which goes by many names.”

I was 12 when JFK was assassinated. And I witnessed and participated in some of the protests against all the horrors that followed. More assassinations, the atrocities of Vietnam, the draft, friends coming home in body bags. Massive social unrest, equal rights for minorities and women. Kent State. The corruption in the Nixon administration ending with his resignation. It was an extremely dark time in our country. But young people stood up and shouted NO FUCKING WAY!” Americans rallied and we salvaged our shredded democracy.

I was and I still am also quite aware of the various “dark forces” behind the various events, MIC, big pharma, big ag, the assault on our environment, the return to blatant racism, the unsustainable nature and hypocrisy of so called “free-market” capitalism, etc. Including now with P2025 been implemented, full throttle.

And obviously the social unrest during the 1960’s, early 70s was far worse than the amorality and decadence of the 1980’s and trump’s rise, under the tutelage of Roy Cohn, his notorious mentor. And right now we’re rapidly heading toward a much more consequential level of social unrest that could quickly lead to far worse outcome, under DJT’s dictatorial reign. An authoritarian regime.

What we’re seeing now is not trump’s phony facade. It’s the real power-hungry narcissistic sociopath behind the mask and he’s now bearing his teeth.

So I reject MW’s notion that “we all fell prey” and “we” are projecting “all” of it. That’s her OPINION and I have my own, which is in direct contradiction to hers. And I have always aspired to become a better version of myself, everyday. But sometimes ya just gotta call a thing, a thing, by its true nature.

And Mary Trump, his niece, is a clinical psychologist so she likely knows him better than anyone.

But even now, I do still believe in the IDEA, the ideals, the principles, the value of this country, these United States of America - An idea worth fighting for. But I outright reject that I’m so unaware, so simple-minded, so dim-witted, so naive or disengaged that I would somehow project this madman into being.

I agree. We’ve been going down this path for a long time, and he’s not the cause, but entered at the perfect time. I believe we will have to go down deeper into this darkness before we ascend into something more beautiful and loving, and I may not realize it in my lifetime (I’m 68), but I will commit to working to create it.

Thank you Marianne. It's important to remember that not just Trump but all of them 'didn't come out of the womb that way.'

And if anyone thinks "How did we get here?", then they are just not willing to look.

This is heartbreaking to see. From my perspective after 11 years here, the current political climate feels like a symptom of a deeper problem. I've met people who champion human rights and democracy publicly, but privately, they exhibit the same bullying tactics as the leaders now in office.

I know I can't change national politics, and I don't intend to. What I can do is focus on supporting people who have experienced abuse from family, partners, or their community.

While there are millions of people in this country, I can only control my own actions. My path forward is to forgive myself for having played along with these toxic dynamics in the past. My hope is to pay it forward (or 'pray it forward'!) by helping others recognize how manipulation works so they can break free from it.

Remember, you have far more power than you think!

Thanks for publishing this message I found it very interesting.

FYI, I pray for President Trump and you every night. I have been working to have the President invite you to the White House for a meeting, hopefully with his entire Cabinet. You have the advantage from your ACIM training, and I trust those principles can yet transform the President's heart and those in his Cabinet.

I remember very well your Metaphysical Minute statement "The Love in me salutes the Love in you." This is so powerful, and I am sure a miracle will follow once you meet President Trump.

Thank you so much for all that you do!

Love how you have shown the “WHO” Trump really is. He is our expression of the dark side of human nature. Without him change would not be possible. Now is the time for the pendulum to start its journey to the light.

Life is made of choices...I believe Trump just like many others...Stalin, Hitler, and the many political and religious leaders down the centuries ask us...is this what you want? We still burn people as witches or heretics...just not physically. The human race..which also makes decisions for the voiceless, the animals and the earth...make interesting decisions. May we continue to learn from our collective choices done with commission or omission.

Systems with antiquainted ways of doing things needed to be shaken up land reassessed. Trump is blamed for the shake up, and he likes that.

That said, yes, I agree he is the personification of the evil shadow in ourselves that we deny and ignore.

His soul may be too far gone to respond to prayer. I can pray that his soul end up in purgatory.
