Many of us are old enough to remember the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, in which the Chinese government cracked down violently and viciously on a prodemocracy protest movement. The world could simply bear witness in silent horror, as information leaked to the rest of us about the murderous rampage taking place.
Today, a similar feeling fills the air as we learn about the Iranian government’s response to the anti-government protests in that country. Reports describe indiscriminate killings and overwhelmed hospitals. President Trump has declared he would respond strongly were such a thing to happen, and says he received a phone call from government sources in Iran on Saturday who “wanted to negotiate.” It’s impossible for us to know for sure, of course, what is happening in that interaction.
There’s also been talk about Elon Musk being willing and able to help the protestors through Starlink, giving them Internet access and jamming government efforts to suppress them. Again, it’s impossible to know at this point what’s true and what’s not true, but if anyone can help them I pray they will.
Many thousands of brave, courageous people are now under attack by a deeply oppressive and dictatorial regime in Iran. For those of us who pray, let’s pray without ceasing.
Dear God,
To all those who suffer for the cause of freedom, in Iran and elsewhere,
please help them.
Send angels to minister unto them
and bring comfort to their souls.
Shield and empower them,
and those they love.
At this awful hour
be their strength, dear God.
Protect them in their hour of need.
Help their cause
and uplift their hearts.
Thank you, God.

I know the people of Iran have been suffering from the same problem that the US created through sanctions against Iran. The people of Iran will not have better lives under implemented policies via the US. I do pray for the people of Iran. The US seems to do many things to harm other nations. Look at the history of our 600 black sites all around the world. The US is the perpetrator, and it appears as if the US is now turning its hatred and vitriol towards its own people ie: Minnesota. Beware the evil beast is at our door.
