We need to stay awake, be vigilant and remember the principles on which this nation was founded … We don’t have a King … Our government has three co-equal branches which was intentionally created to make legislation difficult … so it would be extremely difficult for one branch to take control of the entire government … However, that seems to be happening right now. The President is keeping his Republican colleagues in line out of fear. They are afraid they won’t be reelected. Republicans are trading their integrity for another term in office. This includes everything on their agenda including placing White Christian Men above everyone else, even when the Constitution says all men are created equal. I find this lack of integrity offensive … and I hope their constituents find it equally offensive the next time they run for office.

My Holocaust survivor parents were terrified of Christians, hated for being Jewish, persecuted for being Jewish (because just identifying oneself as a Jew makes one a target) and I knew this is how they felt for very obvious reasons. As someone born after the Holocaust, I was very aware of their fears and sorrows when they realized their large families had been "exterminated" with probably an amount of survivor's guilt. During Easter we were not allowed out of the house because it was a Christian holiday and we were at risk. Must not show ourselves. I've spent most of my life trying to embrace the possibility that I'm actually safe. Today's ever present and growing anti Jewish narrative is something that I pray about often, lest I become a hater. Basically in my heart when I'm calm, I know we are all one but some days the name Christian Nationalism has scary components.

Christian Nationalists are for the most part very pro-Israel. According to their interpretation of the Bible, the Jews have to be back in Israel before they can convert the Jews so Jesus can return. The new US ambassador to Israel, as a matter of fact is the Christian Nationalist former Arkansas governor Huckabee, as opposed to what is more traditional choice; a Jewish American ambassador to israel

Attempting to convert the Jews doesn't make it better, especially if it involves preaching hell fire and damnation.

No one should be forced to convert to any religion under fear tactics. They should be able to educate themselves on a variety of worldviews and make their own decision as adults. Even as children, they should be offered a variety of worldviews, even if they are going to their parents' church, temple, or synagogue.

I think it is understandable that anti Jewish sentiment is growing. Watching Jews blowing tens of thousands of people to piece on a day by day basis after day and enacting ethnically cleansing in Palestine is truly disturbing. In addtion decades of filling wells with concrete, steal water supplies, bulldozing schools and hospitals humiliating others at checkpoints in the West Bank is horrible. Seeing Jews call others animals and cockroaches is deluded. Thinking they are Gods special people is scary. The Christian nationalists are also scary. Let's face it we all come from. The original humans, no one is one thing alone. We all need the air and water and fire that are not of any one place

Not that I'm Xian, but I was at one time, grew up in an Xian home, and so the idea of making this country a "Christian Nation" begs the question, "Who's sect of Christianity?" Catholic? Church of God? (Anderson Indian CoG or World CoG?) Heaven's Gate? (yes a cult, but nonetheless) Assembly of God? Evangelical Lutheran Church of America? The Anglican Church of American? I bet they aren't Episcopalians pushing this crap, who split with the previous Anglican I mentioned. I know they aren't Unitarian Universalists either. How about Dominionists. Look them up. Whatever the case, it's INSANE and NOT what the Founding Father's wanted.

To claim what’s true you must learn what’s true. Your comments about schools not teaching our sacred values is right on. But why this is happening is way off because you’ve done what all other presidential candidates did - not listen to teachers. I’m a former teacher who’s worked to expose the truth about our schools since 1995. Our problem is fascists took over our schools decades ago and silenced the teachers. You must go to WhiteChalkCrime.com and EndTeacherAbuse.org and learn the truth about our schools in order to restore democracy. My memoir of my teaching days, A Graver Danger, describes in detail what our schools have become. Read it and weep. Or listen to the audiobook.

In 2010 I received a phone call from Oprah’s researcher who had my 2008 book in hand. She helped Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil go viral. Look what they’re doing with their fame. If only she helped me and my group of teachers go viral. That’s what this nation needs. My organization has over 2,000 members whose voices have been silenced. It includes a teacher whose district criminally indicted him for reporting to the police that a student brought a bag of guns to school. This is how our fascist administrators treat us. Being afraid to say a word about anything that might make our administrators angry is why we have school shootings.

Both parties let this happen. The teachers’ unions have capitulated to these fascists as we see so many do to Trump. When a person like you who deeply understands what children need is clueless about what they’re doing to our children, we stand little chance of restoring democracy.

Our schools are where we lost it. First they came for the schools. Until this goes viral we have the nation the fascists running our schools want.

I couldn’t agree more Marianne! In my province in Canada, Civics has been reduced to half a credit and students leave high school not even understanding the various levels of government or the division of powers. I know that teachers are sometimes afraid of appearing partisan when they teach about politics so they avoid it. Educators need to embrace their strength and courage going forward and recognize the role of schools in preserving democracy.

Before the election the health clinic employees were wearing Christian Nationalist flag pins, even my physician, an immigrant from Iran and a Zorastan by religion. She had no idea. After the election churches put up their Christian Nationalist flags. I live in Florida of course. And reported my unease to the patient advocate who claimed to not know what that meant.

People worshipping a book which puts in their minds that man gave birth to woman (isn't Satan the one who inverts everything?) and contains so many stories of revenge, rape and massacre prompted by their so called god are dangerous.

What Christian Nationalists don't get is that Jesus never preached from Leviticus. Most of what is in their version of the bible is mistranslated or missing context that comes with the oral teachings that often change the meaning drastically. Leviticus was meant for ancient priests, not the general population even back then let alone now. It's a manipulated tool, not what Jesus showed people in his life, the way he taught the essence, the spirit, not the dogma.

What might it have been if were not Trump in the White House? And what would be different with Kamala Harris in the White House?

What has been up close for decades and nothing being done is a failed public education system. And still remains so. The system has resulted in a highly indoctrinated society via corporate media controlled by the government. So what to do now? Survival of the fittest

I'm so glad you are finally talking about this. It has been my prime concern for years since I know people who have escaped "Christian" Nationalist homes. They were home-schooled in a system that has more than a million kids in which they were taught that slavery was a blessing for the slaves and that the Trail of Tears was a wonderful way for indigenous people to find Jesus. They teach that women should stay home, raise kids, and not vote. And they teach that Hitler was correct identifying the white Aryian race as superior. They teach that the Holocause is made up, and that we must help bring about the end of the world. They are insulated from outside information and told to dismiss contrary evidence as "fake" and "propaganda." It's a cult on a massive scale. They are, thus, immune to economic messages that would help them and fear anyone who is not like them. I mean, they are terrified of us.

Stand tall and do not bend. I have made it my business to treat conservative Christians the same as everyone else, and so far, they have reciprocated in kind. It may be said, though, that sharks don't present a danger, until they smell blood.

Dear Marianne, I have problems with the subheading on the Instagram Post from "Men 4 Choice" (itself referring to an MS article) that you linked. For goodness sake, banning women from voting isn't the 'canary in the coal mine' as per the MS subheading - it is the elephant in the coal mine! it isn't a hint of bad things to come - it IS in every way that horrendous apocalyptic result. I'm finding it hard to imagine what could be WORSE than banning half of all human beings from voting because of an identification that doesn't seem convenient to the other half...?
