Thank you Marianne - for a post that is not only critical - but - challenges us to not just agree in our hearts, minds and spirt - but to make our agreement truly actionable. So often, at least in my life, you have challenged me to make my ideas actionable - and to be accountable to them. Saying "yeah Marianne's right - she nailed it!" - is lovely - but didn't get the job done in the past - and won't get the job done now.
I live in San Miguel de Allende Mexico - and after reading your post I reached out to my local Democrats Abroad chapter to begin harnessing the power of our votes. When we live abroad, it can be easy to feel a bit removed from the chaos of politics in the United States. We see it - and we are appalled by it - but it's a little too easy to let ourselves drift from the immediacy of it - the danger. I know I have been the beneficiary of - distance. This post was a wake up call.
Democrats Abroad does incredible work to insure this vulnerable voting block is heard and helps people navigate an unnecessarily challenging voting system.
And, as I reached out today to Democrats Abroad, I also found that the U.S. Postal Service, in line with the current administrations attempt to further restrict voting rights, has said it is building a new records system for absentee and voters abroad and will only deliver ballots to voters who are on their mailing list. If carried through, this rule would mean that the USPS will only deliver ballots to voters who appear on specific lists provided by the states.

Being a cheerleader in Texas was a big deal. No doubt you performed at all the football games. I was in the marching band and we certainly did. I still remember my small town of 50,000 generating a crowd of 20,000 when the two high school teams played. I also remember your cheer well. Friday Night Lights indeed.
