Shakespeare already anticipated this and wrote in Macbeth, "The truth will out". And the New Testament already anticipated this and says, "Whatever is hidden away will be brought out into the open, and whatever is covered up will be uncovered". (Mark 4:22). And our Buddhist brothers and sisters have known this forever as the principle of Karma. And these Universal laws apply to all of us, not just to Trump and his ilk.
I too was thinking of Watergate. I remember how riveting it was at the time as those drips landed. Remember the infamous 9-1/2 minutes missing from the tapes? Sort of like the 3-1/2 minutes missing from the video of Epstein in his cell? And of course the release of files that Bondi’s team is furiously working to cherry pick and redact so the many Trump references will be missing.
I’m actually watching the epic movie, NIXON, right now. It’s astonishing how similar the trump regime is to the Nixon presidency. The lies, the corruption, the failed cover-up that ultimately ended his presidency.
And this infamous quote - "If the president does it, that means that it is not illegal" - is exactly how Trump views his current presidency.
“…famously attributed to former U.S. President Richard Nixon. He made this assertion during an interview with David Frost in 1977, while discussing his actions during the Watergate scandal. This statement is widely interpreted as an assertion of presidential power exceeding the bounds of law.” And there are certainly many trump supporters who also supported Nixon.
Even though I was a teenager during the 1960’s, I was glued to the tv during the 60’s and then the 70’s, following the Nixon resignation very closely.
Enough with the wrecking ball. This needs to end, NOW. So, is this trump’s Achilles heel?
Hahahaha. Yes. Let's stock up on popcorn. I think what was different then is that there was a much greater agreement that such behavior was wrong. Exposing it to the light was all it took to stop it.
In the Hebrew Bible, we are told that Moses brought down the "10 Commandments," from the mountain. One of them said, " Thou shalt not bear false witness against the neighbor,". Looks like the lie is discouraged pretty widely!
Nixon's eventual resignation was one of those moments where many of us remember EXACTLY where we were. EXACTLY what we were doing. I was only 16, but I was so glad the values of the day stood against his corruption!
I totally agree. There was a higher standard, higher expectations - politics aside - that our representatives would have more integrity, a moral compass, values that defined them.
Were we naive? In any case, our expectations have been significantly lowered, particularly by DJT who is a vulgar, indecent, liar, misogynist, bigot, a conman, thug who preys on young women.
I’ve always been a registered independent. And I rely on integrity. Yet, even in this trumpian age, I still remain an idealist, an optimist. Cynicism makes my belly ache!
That quote from the Nixon/ Frost interview was featured on the new "Frontline," piece on Trump. ( I started watching last night but wad too tired to finish on the first sitting). We associate both of these failed president's with corruption. However, I think Nixon actually understood how our governments is supposed to work. I don't think Trump does. That has always been one of my major concerns. It is not only that he doesn't seem to have a clue about how the three independent branches of government work, it is that he has brought millions of US citizens with him who now think the executive has czar like power!!!!
Agree. Nixon was certainly a flawed and deeply troubled man. But he wasn’t a narcissistic sociopath like trump, and he did show remorse at the end of his presidency. He seemed to want to do the right thing.
Trump, on the other hand, IS a weapon of mass destruction. And he will burn this country down and never blink. He’ll never apologize or accept defeat. Nor does he have any qualms about manipulating everyone around him to his own advantage, and destroying everything and everyone in his path who has the audacity to disagree with him. Including family members, which makes him exceedingly dangerous. As Tim Walz said recently, Trump’s ICE is his version of the Nazi gestapo. His own private militia who are loyal to Trump and ignore the rule of law.
And trump was a protege of Roy Cohn who was likely one of the most powerful and dangerous attorneys in US history. (“Mentorship of Donald Trump: Cohn served as a mentor to Donald Trump, teaching him a specific set of aggressive, no-holds-barred tactics including "attack, counterattack, and never apologize" and the strategic use of the legal system to his advantage. This mentorship, particularly on how to exploit power and instill fear, is seen as having a lasting impact on American politics.”)
Yes, there were tapes! And Trump’s version of that is the WSJ’s “letter”. Trump broke some of Roy Cohn’s fundamental, cardinal rules … NEVER LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL, AND NEVER SIGN ANYTHING!
In an effort to quell the noise, he has directed Attorney General Bondi to release all grand jury testimony "pertinent" to the Epstein investigation.
Remember that the Grand Jury testimony is only about one tenth of the total files, and will require some time to secure its release. We must demand that the full contents of the Epstein files are released to the public.
The denial of his supporters has always been a big obstacle, but it looks like more and more are seeing him for who he really is, and that there is no hoax, never has been, other than Trump's multiple Goebbels-like accusations against others of what he's actually done, while trying to take credit for all of their accomplishments.
MAGA is at least partially motivated by “owning the libs” as well as their cult beliefs that Trump is their messiah, their retribution. And so far they’ve been willing to overlook all his trespasses. But maybe sex trafficking minors is their “bridge too far”.
Now Trump is desperately trying to regain the narrative by accusing Obama of election interference and committing treason. We must keep the attention on the Epstein story.
Trump is MAGA. Once his whole narrative implodes, there is no more MAGA. Once they see one of his big lies, they will see his other big lies. How can they believe Democrats steal elections when the F.B.I. is in charge of election oversight? Not once in its entire history has it been headed by a Democrat.
You're right, I made a mistake. Edited it as soon as I saw it but it had already gone out. Always click to see the one on the page! Sorry for the sloppiness.
The birthday card alone sounds like it was sketched during a séance with Caligula. But now that Daddy Rupert’s two sons, News Corp and MAGA, are beefing at the Thanksgiving table, we’ve entered strange new territory. Trump threatening to sue his own mythmaker is like Frankenstein calling the villagers for backup.
And yes, this stinks of Watergate déjà vu, but with fewer tapes and more gold toilets. The crack in MAGA support is not just political. It is psychological. Watching the cult question the oracle feels like witnessing a glitch in the Matrix. Strange times. Sacred unravelings.
I didn’t realize Trump was an aspiring Artist … Apparently he’s done lots of drawings … The issue isn’t the drawing … (I don’t subscribe to the Wall Street Journal so I’ve never seen it) … The issue is his relationship with Epstein and under age girls !!!
After seeing the Trump, Epstein videos that are all over the internet … I have a feeling that whatever Epstein did … Trump did as well … Only time will tell
Many of these white men were abused by their own fathers--so Trump has finally hit a nerve.
But White privilege only takes one so far...Now that he feels offended, Trump claims not to need the support of MAGA anyway anymore. And why should he? For Trump and the Republicans are in the process of dismantling election protections, even now, and in the future, and during the most recent presidential election when paper ballots were massively culled in the swing states. (See Greg Pallast's reporting.) How can we sit by and watch not merely our nation but our entire world being destroyed by ignorance, recklessness and greed? For far too long our nation has been a destabilizing, if not violent, force worldwide. We ignore the Law of Karma at our own peril. Maitreya Buddha reminds our politicians, and our nation: "If you have forced someone out through trickery, you will be forced out by the same process."
Marianne, this post has provoked the most exciting politcal discussion I've been a part of in years!!! Thank you so much. I am excited to see what happens next!

Staying engaged. And stocking up on popcorn.
Hahahaha. Yes. Let's stock up on popcorn. I think what was different then is that there was a much greater agreement that such behavior was wrong. Exposing it to the light was all it took to stop it.
Yes, Jane. During the first Trump campaign leading up to 2016, my neighbor had a sign that read, " Make lying wrong again." I loved that.
To lie is actually a “sin” in the Muslim faith …
In the Hebrew Bible, we are told that Moses brought down the "10 Commandments," from the mountain. One of them said, " Thou shalt not bear false witness against the neighbor,". Looks like the lie is discouraged pretty widely!

"Exposing it to the *light*", love that you chose those words 🙏🩷🕉

Merry. Thank you so much. Your comments ate incredibly interesting and thought provoking. This discussion is WONDERFUL!!!
And also Nixon never had that level of cruelty or personal perversion.
Interesting! Never thought of it that way!
Jane, I immediately thought of the gaps in the Nixon tapes, as well!
Yes, there were tapes! And Trump’s version of that is the WSJ’s “letter”. Trump broke some of Roy Cohn’s fundamental, cardinal rules … NEVER LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL, AND NEVER SIGN ANYTHING!

I was unaware that the FBI has only had Republican directors. Wow. That is very interesting!
Did you mean Donald and Rupert sitting in a tree. I may be missing something.

😍😎😍🌈💟😁😎
I caught it too, but I knew you would correct it.😁😎😍🌈💟🔯🦋
No problem, I figured it was a Mercury retrograde kinda thing 😹
'twas indeed 😍😁😍
America loves a scandal, and this is one that even the Republicans have taken hold of. We all want to know.
This may bring the people together. The thing that Trump fears most.
Everyone knows Trump was Epstein’s #1 client. They just think they can get away with it.
Or maybe it’s all a distraction from something they’d rather we not see….
"Jeffrey Epstein is a scrim for central bank currency and the vaccine passport.".
Eric Francis Coppolino a journalist and astrologer this is what Eric talks about in his latest podcast PlanetWavesFM. from Chiron Return.
It is worth the listening, and eye opener! Eric is also a student of "A course in Miracles" as I am.

Virgin Monk Boy approves this karmic plot twist.
Yes, Shakespeare would love this. As old as time.
Shakespeare taking notes -- I love it. We all get to sit back and watch on this one!
How about "Is this a dagger which I see befre me"?
I didn’t realize Trump was an aspiring Artist … Apparently he’s done lots of drawings … The issue isn’t the drawing … (I don’t subscribe to the Wall Street Journal so I’ve never seen it) … The issue is his relationship with Epstein and under age girls !!!
The amount he is asking for is not serious. And he forgot that about a little thing called discovery.
After seeing the Trump, Epstein videos that are all over the internet … I have a feeling that whatever Epstein did … Trump did as well … Only time will tell
Trump, Murdoch, and Epstein. A trio of deception. One tweets, one prints, one vanishes—yet their legacy delivers, and continues to deliver, suffering.
Many of these white men were abused by their own fathers--so Trump has finally hit a nerve.
