Most of us paid for this, it's not a gift, it's the only source of income for millions. If they would pay their taxes, there would be enough. Actually there is already enough. All the newly unemployed people cannot pay into it. It's ours to keep. The illusion that there isn't enough money is exactly that, an illusion. Maybe they can donate their billions to prevent the so called crisis. There has always been waste but we the people cannot have access to their "secret information". There's money for weapons.

I worked at a hospital for over 15 years and was fully vested in a pension when it went bankrupt and with it went my pension. A few years prior to the bankruptcy the hospital offered us a 401K option. It turns out that our contributions in that final year disappeared and no one went to jail! At 65 I just signed up for Medicare and was hoping to retire at 65. I was relying on Social Security to supplement my income.

As a Registered Nurse who practiced in patient's homes for many years I saw the absolute need for both Social Security and Medicare to give people over 65 the dignity they deserve. It is not a windfall, it is life sustaining, and barely keeps the elderly above the poverty line.

Shame on them!

Stories like yours just curdle my blood.

I have the greatest respect for RNs - without them, the medical community simply could not function. For you to lose both your pension, and now potentially your Social Security - there is a special place in hell for those who disrespect the educated, hard selfless work you have done. My heart to you, Fran, all four chambers, beating strong and true. Big hug.

I agree with everything you said, Marianne. I am one of those who depend on a monthly SS check, about $1K, that includes deduction for Medicare. With a similar payment from my teacher's pension, I can manage to live alone in a modest apartment. I feel trepidation at the very real possibility that Musk's rapacious efforts will rob me of my SS income. I have a friend who relies solely on hers. My disabled elderly brother depends on SSDI for his assisted living care. Another friend too receives SSDI. We've alerted our reps in Congress. None of us are able to "take to the streets" or donate to PACs that are fighting Musk & Trump. What more can we do??? This despicable pair & all who bow to them are destroying our beautiful nation piece by piece.

I want you to remember how many millions of people are doing everything possible to push back. You are not alone, and I think the mass outrage over this will cause the President to tell Elon to hold back. I pray that it is so. Please write to your Senators and House members to tell them exactly what you just wrote here. Call 202 224 3121. All my best to you. This too shall pass.

What I just said to you does not mean I think you should shrink back into your quiet little corner. Not at all. We need as many Truth Tellers as possible. It doesn't matter if every one of them speaks the truths that matter to me according to my personal understanding. Until we are no longer free and safe to speak on these things, loudly, we must do so. You have a voice and a platform. I am glad you are using them.

Big, sincere hugs to you. And Congrats to your daughter in advance.

I hope the birthing goes well, and you have some more happy Granny Gazing time. <3

I wish this were so, Marianne, but these people absolutely DO NOT CARE about the mass outrage of the people. They care about only one thing - their political skins (you already know this) and the money their donors paid to put them in place.

I'm sad to say that what Ronald Reagan wanted to put in place in 1980, what Bush Jr. promised to put in place 20 years later, the Heritage Foundation (who have been working on it for 40 years) and the 47th POTUS are now ready to enact.

Social Security has been the primary target of the anti-FDR coalition of the GOP ever since it was passed. They got the Local Governments, they got the District Maps, they managed to get the Courts including the biggest one of all, and they now have the POTUS to do what they have been DREAMING of doing, and PROMISING to do for over 50 years. Tear down the New Deal. **This is a HUGE part of it.

And they will do it, mark my words. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are going down, and there is little to nothing "the people" can do about it.

There was only ONE way to save all this... stay *unified as Democrats, and put Kamala Harris in office. A lot of Democrats *did *not get the assignment so here we stand.

In the coming age of Pluto in Aquarius we are going to have to address all these human problems in new and inventive ways. With Neptune about to enter the sign of Aries, I fear that war will be the first means of bringing about a revolution of ideas and ideals.

But there will be suffering first, suffering that we must all find a way to endure.

I take no joy on typing these words to you, my good woman. None at all.

Wasn't Musk born in another country? And why hasn't he been deported? My income comes from Social Security that I and my employers have paid into and a government retirement. Money I have earned. How does that just get deleted because this criminal has invaded our government offices? Why hasn't he and his gang been arrested for illegal confiscation of government documentations? What's the difference in this and what happened on January 6th?

I’m so angry about this I’m enraged!!! 😡😡😡 All these disabled children, adults, mentally ill and elderly and also the working middle class that is trying to their best to make sure their family is taken care of. The burden of the working family to have to support all of their family that is on Social Security will break the middle class 😡😡😡😡

I wish there was something impactful that citizens and Democrats could do about this, but right now I feel like we're all pretty toothless. GOP Representatives are now pulling out of public events because they don't want to listen to the people they serve. They want to do targeted online Town Halls so they can avoid the angry voices of people who don't support them.

Perhaps the most important thing we can do as ordinary Americans is keep telling the truth on as many broad reaching platforms as possible.

And pray. Do the Lessons.

Don't allow ourselves to be drawn into victim or attack mode, and ask for fresh thinking to enter our consciousness, so we can carve a path forward in this dangerous new world.

Trump is a Traitor!

It's clear now, and last time too, that he had no intention of protecting the American constitution. He is rather a traitor to it. This con man and his dangerous sidekicks have conned the majority of voting Americans so is a traitor to them ... distracting them with blaming other countries and imposing debilitating trade war on historical best friend Canada. He is a traitor to Canada and Mexico and trade agreements. He is a traitor to NATO, and all allied alliances. NORAD is next. People are scared of the bullies but most remain silent ...

He is clearly an extension of Putin's arm, and is now spectacularly successfully his puppet.

World leaders are trying to appease Trump, but that is completely useless, because in reality, they really dealing with an agent managed by Putin who really knows how to play him. Putin wants North America to be plunged into internal fighting chaos so that Putin can reclaim Soviet era states, the rest of Europe, then North America. Trump is serving us up to him and doesn't care a damn about America.

Mobilize people against this traitor and his henchmen. Use his own words against them: "They are Red Commie Traitors - LOCK 'EM UP!"

Every time they go to court they claim Elon basically isn't anything. That means any individual can sue him for what he's doing to harm us. It is definitely intentional infliction of emotional distress and also physical. He is not covered by governmental immunity. He is personally liable to anyone who would care to sue for relief. A president doesn't get to just announce a federal agency into being. Those are created by Congress and Congress is in charge of the funding. Civil service laws guide hiring and firing of employees as well as their job descriptions. The OMB already has a department in charge of government efficiency, so Elon is redundant.

If social security is taken away, I literally do not know what my husband and I will do...I am 68 and I no longer work due to health problems, he is 70 and still working part time to supplement the social security that pays for all our basics- mortgage, utilities, food, cell phone service, car insurance, gas, etc...We live very simply but we just could not survive without both our checks...I spent part of today weeping over this...The cruelty of this administration is simply shocking...

Social Security is our money that we had to pay into with agreement it would come back to us at retirement. Are there not people in Congress & Judicial branch holding the Executive branch in checks & balances? This feels like he is systematically turning us into the One China plan (started with Nixon) project 2025 One World Govt. I wouldnt be surprised if he is working with CCP to take over USA with digital surveillance and access to every citizens info and location. Musk needs to be questioned publically re: CCP China 2025 plan & Xi Jinping.

Analysis Finds Trump Tariffs Will Cost Average US Family $1,600 or More Per Year

"The trade war Trump is igniting will weaken our economy and cause chaos in our marketplace as Americans pay the cost in the form of higher prices on everyday items," said Rep. Don Beyer.
