Thank you for your annual reminder of the meaning of Mother’s Day, though this one is fraught with too many tears and too much suffering for Palestinian and Israeli Moms. Thank you for recognizing and highlighting the prevalence of Israelis and Palestinians who have been joining together in working to wage peace between their two peoples, knowing that that will be the only resolution to the conflict. Wishing you and your daughter a Happy Mother’s Day!
M - this was a d*** good essay, and a wonderful message to contemplate on Mother's Day.
Father's Day too. Because fathers are lost to war, and children are orphaned of their fathers in the cruelest and most consequential ways because of war. I will put that Proclamation in my journal, and in the back of my cc of *Illuminata*, a book I seek for guidance on matters like this.
Thanks. And Happy Mom's Day to you, and to your daughter Emma India.
I've often thought that the most powerful political party that could form would be the "Mothers' Party." We know intimately the value of life and what it takes to bring new life into this world. We would be inclined to figure out ways of collaborating, globally, so that other mothers wouldn't have to go through unnecessary sorrow and suffering. Howe's words are moving. Yes, mothers' voices need to be heard! I love that you, Marianne (a mother and presidential candidate), have a call for a Dept. of Peace in your platform. Unfortunately, so far, the ONLY one that does. Bless you for your continued work and voice.
Your wisdom and foresight and heart never fail to disappoint me, Marianne. Thank you for this very relevant and enlighting history lesson from this self-proclaimed "Earth mama" having elected childlessness over passing on more generational wounds. Coming from a warring bio-environment where I was left to fend and defend for myself as a result of unsupportive lovelessness in which my developmental, physical and social self was programmed. That is the story behind billions of lives lived in desperation and detachment.
In all the world if one believes itself separate from life, then so are we all. I was created to be an instrument of love and break the cycle of my eastern european ancestry, and that is now how I go forth with my universal credo being:
💫Love Is Now💫
There is no time left for us to believe we are separate from one another and Source. It's Love through Peace or bust as far as my ongoing service here is concerned.
I just put a post on my blog livfully.org/wordpressblog about Every Day Should Be Mother's Day! That may not be original but remembering our roots is an honor and a way to have a compass for the future day by day...You are such an inspiration...and I heard you were in Baltimore or will be soon. My midwife recently told me I sang the Star-Spangled Banner during labor and with the Frances Scott Key Bridge in such need it's time to rebirth our country and world with conviction from all women...and maybe sing it like we know many are singing with us... and we will journey together to brighter future.
Many say the stars are lining up for us (expansion and explosion...Jupiter and Uranus energies...) so hope more can consider ideas from healer and insightful folks the world over. Peace and light & Many Thanks as my mother would say, may she smile down on us and guide us with so many others (men and women) from on high and here and yet to come...
PS Glad I got to meet you a couple of times in NYC (I asked the 1st question about what if Trump won the election...and he actually did...) that was at The Blue Marble...and then when you spoke in your first run! Grateful you're sharing the wisdom and hope to learn more soon!

Y E S!!!
Thank you for recalling this important history! I also wrote a post reflecting on the forgotten origins of today’s holiday and its crucial importance given the ongoing genocide in Gaza. https://shahidbuttar.substack.com/p/mothers-day-means-more-than-celebrating
SO PROFOUND. Thank YOU SO MUCH for sharing this with us Marianne
I did not know this, thank you.
Thanks, Marianne, for this reminder of the importance of Mother's Day and the wonderful proclamation made by Julia Ward Howe.
God bless you and all mothers now and forever.

whether our baptism be that of water or of tears!
Here in Israel, today is commemoration day of all Fallen Sons and Daughters [i believe also from circa 1870].
Tears and tears, and tears.
thx.
Sorry it took me so long – we’ve had quite the adventure this morning trying to get to a hot spring!
Happy Mother’s Day, Marianne! You are such an incredible momma.💖
Thank you Marianne. I don’t think I ever knew how Mother’s Day began.
Happy Mother’s Day to you. 💕
