We need to go back to the 70s and resurrect consciousness raising groups. They are lowering consciousness.

I beg to differ. They are not lowering consciousness levels (and no one can do that if one is inclined to be established firmly in their own self, the consciousness itself), they are taking advantage of lower awareness levels among the public.

This ignores what right wing media has been doing with their talk shows where they have two guys sitting there and one makes a comment that a normal person would disagree with, while the other agrees that is just common knowledge. It is a brainwashing technique that lowers consciousness. See The Brainwashing of My Dad a documentary that shows a family's experience with a loved one who fell prey to these type of shows. Trump pinned a medal on one of the worst perpetrators, Rush Limbaugh.

Yes, and I think perhaps knowingly, perhaps inadvertently, with their chaos they are tapping into people's fears because what people don't understand they tend to fear.

Plus they use this saccharine sentimentality to make them believe something has been taken away from them by the educated or the liberals. An example of that is how they talked about smoking. Suddenly they all loved the scent of tobacco. Darn those liberals in medical research for finding out it causes cancer anyway.

Yes that's quite true. Point of Information, Ravikant, The Consciousness Raising groups of the 70's were by women, for women to help us gain more knowledge and clarity.

Jean Knowlton's avatar

That was one group of consciousness raising for women, but there was another, the first one I attended at my local university, for racial consciousness. I was sitting in a room conversing probably for the first time with women of color and discovered how they were experiencing things, got to know them and see their point of view. I shared the fear I had grown up with that black men were all criminals and rapists, and they shared their reality, that white men were violent and dangerous. Then we went behind all that and got to know each other as individuals. The world needs more of that now.

Fortunately for me, l grew up in a very diverse home. My mom grew up in Alabama. And my dad came as an infant and grew up as a first generation immigrant. He worked his way through high school, college, and law school.

I once followed a Westernized Indian Guru who, went under pressure, would parade around the ashram hand in hand with a child. She knew it would disarm her critics and shame those who were exposing the fraud and abuse underneath her status as a supposedly perfected being.

I still have a kind of affection for her and I'm grateful for everything I got from following her. But I always knew she was manipulating me whenever she would focus on "the children".

Children don't know enough to cry foul when they have been defrauded.

That makes them safe company for liars, sham artists, and empty suits.

I'm very pleased with what has happened in the past month, I was however very disappointed with the last four years. Our southern boarder is more secure, those who crashed our southern boarder with the blessing of the prior administration are slowly going home and the rest of the world seems to be helping. The middle east is calm for the moment and Hamas is on a short leash. No I think the events of the past four weeks, for the most part, are heralding a new dawn for our entire world. Now if the press will get off of their self anointed throne we may just have turned a vital corner in the salvation of us all. Wilber J

I was having a fascinating conversation with Avi of Nirvana (https://www.nirvana.foundation/founder/), in Tennessee last year about the possibility of Trump becoming a president for a second term and whether a former president would have the stomach to contest the elections once they were defeated and whether the party would allow someone who lost the election as a sitting president to become the nominated candidate again. We quickly deduced that it can happen in the current republican party setup and how it is in the grips of an outsider who had never built the party but learnt to speak what the party base wanted to hear.

Then the conversation veered into whether he should be allowed or not, and one of the pointers we considered was something like a petulant child getting what they want in a candy store and get done with it than to cause a scene at the store (not that either of us are in favor of it but were analyzing all the outcomes). Surprisingly, it had a calming effect on us knowing that the world would know how to deal with him for 4 years (in the event if it were to materialize into a reality) and the country would heal again from the damage done, it is like an aftermath of a hurricane where everything is slowly arranged for again. So Wilber, any outcome that you are seeing and all the pointers you are mentioning about is the world playing a patient game for 4 years, bracing themselves for it to be over. You cannot rule with insane amounts of executive orders, it is a border line behavior of abuse of power. No legislative is involved, no deliberations happened on the floors of democratic institutions and no constitutional expert's opinions were taken into account before these orders were passed out and you think it would have a telling and lasting effect?

"a new dawn for our entire world": wow! I don't think we live in the same world. A new nightmare, you mean? Your pretty little narrative doesn't correspond to reality. The reality, in addition to the one Marianne describes so well in her video of the day and the previous ones, the very reality you don't want to see, is that of millions of people who are starting – as predicted, alas – to suffer from the “events of the last four weeks”, not only in the United States, but all over the world, because yes, we're all linked on this earth, borders or not, whether you like it or not.

The reality is people abandoned to their fate, in your country as in the “entire world”, with the freezing of help and the imbecilic and cruel rejection of everything that represents the other, the elsewhere.

The reality is that, no, "the rest of the world" does NOT support this mortifying policy, between cynical transactionalism to get Ukraine's rare earths in exchange for its survival, the infamous project to turn Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East” (if that's what you call “calm”, it's the calm of cemeteries! the horror of ethnic cleansing, history stuttering), and all life on earth enslaved to Musk's programmatic AI. As a French citizen, I can tell you: no, as in Germany, as in England, as in Denmark, and so many other places in Europe and elsewherewe, we do NOT support your “new dawn” and the infernal duo's reckless interference in our national and European politics, nor their stranglehold on democracy (yes, definitely read Timothy Snyder)... Just to put a damper on your quiet enthusiasm in the face of the unthinkable.

There will never be any attempt to explain what's happening because for the Republican Party there is no need to explain. Republicans despised FDR with a cold, determined venom. They have been trying to tear down everything FDR established during and after World War II for 80 years.

They know they may need to move fast because our elections now move in 2 year cycles. So they are operating like smash and grab felons.

Which is, by the way, the point. Destroy the store, steal all the jewels and hide them where they'll never be found.

An interesting take. Even if your innuendos have a basis for you to believe in (everyone is entitled to their own opinions and they need not be factually correct and if I were you, I would be more cautious to air them without a proof), is everyone you know cleansed of milk and smell like roses that she cannot have one bad interaction or influence (according to you) in her life?

BTW, just curious, what's your take on Trump's signatures on Epstein's guest register or him flying on Epstein's private jet?

Ms. Williamson, six months ago you told us that the border couldn’t be secured because “Trump blocked a bipartisan border bill so as to not help Kamala before the election.” Somehow without that “bipartisan” bill Trump managed to secure the border in 10 days. WERE YOU LYING TO US OR WERE YOU WRONG? Do you owe us an apology? Were you lied to?

I can’t tell if the left is dumb or evil liars or both.

Now we get to watch Ms Williamson take the position that status quo was the solution to the copious fraud and abuse discovered so far. She has become the poster child for the failed boomer generation.

Dear God may that filthy democrat, child trafficking, thievery machine die on this hill.

Hungary, the home of the great Louis Kossuth and Imre Nagy, now has a patriot named Peter Magyar, who is standing up to that country's tyrant, Viktor Orban, and may well take him down, through the democratic process. This country's trajectory may be headed to nosedive territory, but there are plenty of Peter Magyars here, who can counter the pigs and the dogs ("Animal Farm") who are colluding with Trusk and avoid the crash landing.
