Hi Marianne, I was really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this weekend’s events. You always bring such an eloquent, insightful and deeply human perspective to what's happening in the world—it gives me hope and keeps me going. I attended a NO KINGS rally in my community, and it truly felt like a turning point, didn’t it? What I really appreciate about this movement is that it isn’t about one leader or figurehead—it’s about all of us, collectively, working to change the direction of our country. That’s exactly how it should be. I hope this movement keeps growing and growing! Keep sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it!
This weekend felt like a mirror—one half reflecting everything twisted and tyrannical, the other blazing with the spirit of people who remember we were never meant to bow to crowns or cults.
No Kings Day wasn’t a protest. It was a resurrection.
And for those still waiting for a “middle ground,” here’s the truth: there is no neutral path when fascism is dressing up as freedom.
Some of us will pray with incense. Some of us will pray with our feet. But we all better be praying with fire now.
So energizing and inspiring to be there with so many others championing the return to sanity. There's hope! I live in the red part of my otherwise blue state. There were 5000 of us at the local protest!
Thank you once again for your astute take on what’s happening in America, as evidenced in just the events of this past weekend. Yes, there was horrific tragedy in Minnesota and a bombastic failure in DC. But the people on the streets showed up, rain or shine, to say loud and clear that we do not tolerate Kings in our country, in fact that’s exactly what we broke way from in the American Revolution. Weather in NYC was wet and cold, but NOTHING deterred us from showing up - as peaceful protestors against an authoritarian takeover of our government. I was in awe of how beautiful the march here was.
I went to the Pittsburgh “No Kings” protest. You could feel the good vibes as we approached the Protest area in front of the City County Building. There were tons of signs and all so interesting. I met and talked with several interesting people. It was a very peaceful protest and I am so proud of my fellow Pittsburghers! 💕
After reading the news on the BBC, NPR and MSNBC, I was left with a sense of shallowness and got curious to see if maybe you had written something more substantial. In reading your analysis, I was not disappointed. Thank you for recognizing the broader patterns and connecting them to an over-arching vision. I feel less numb, more informed, and with a greater sense of connection to the larger picture.
Thank you for this. I found my local event in Albany, CA, probably around 1800 people, plus loads of honking drivers passing by, to be inspiring, fun, joyful, and energizing. I needed that! I don’t feel so alone anymore.
A wide range of ages. Clever signs. Just a blast overall. A triumph.
I was a protest in the deep red part of Alabama where I live. Truly incredible experience. Peaceful but strong in showing resistance. I'm so proud of the turnout and the support from people cheering us on. There is strength in numbers, and those numbers showed up and showed out yesterday!
All of what you say here is powerful, intelligent, and filled with the usual truth about the darkness and the light. the truth that many either failed to see, or failed to look at. The awareness of what needs to keep happening, and what may not stop happening yet we can still keep pushing and flowing at the same time. Thank you Marianne!
I felt so heartened and empowered to see so many people out in Culver City, CA, which is where my husband and I “prayed with our feet”, to use the words of the late Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. No, we aren’t taking trump and his idiot goons lying down; we’re fighting for human decency and intelligence and integrity. The more peaceful we are, the more we see how evil and anti-life the other side is. I’ll march and pray and protest and make phone calls and write letters and do whatever it takes to let peace prevail. The other side has turned the phrase “pro life” on its head. Really? All those “pro lifers” sure look anti life to me. NO KINGS DAY was a real right to life event on so many different levels, in so many ways. We said that ALL of us have a RIGHT TO LIFE. And we DON’T need a king.
Marianne, one of these days I’m going to meet you in person and give you one of thousands of hugs you so deserve. I wish I could attend the conference in October; as I think I wrote somewhere else to you, I’m officiating a wedding on that day. Can’t change that!! All my best,
America will some day lead the world spiritually, as we have led materially. That day may not be far off, but we will have to shake the "ethics" of drug dependency, of tit-for-tat retribution and of laissez-faire attitudes towards vandals and thieves. Criminal justice must be swift-and humane; evenly applied, without lawbreakers looking to "like-minded" politicians to bail them out.
Thanks Marianne for your eloquence and reassuring reasoning. I nearly choked on my tea last night (UK Scot, for now) when I turned on ch4 news and saw the military parade and then slowly but with a sinking stomach came to realise this was America. Those robot dogs alone are enough to terrify. It’s very gratifying to know that so many Americans turned out for No Kings day. But perhaps it should have been called No dictatorship, day instead. I’m no royalist, but I feel that comparing Donald Trump’s regime to that of the UK royal family and others in Europe is perhaps insulting to many who love their royal family, and believe me there are many. But, I do take the point of kingship in general that was being made by all those brave Americans who participated in whatever way they could 💪🏻👏🏼🙏

Hellooo Marianne!! Thank you!!
Yes!
So powerful!
What a way to express that Love, Respect and none violence is the way.
That is who America is.
This weekend the power of We the People, of the just and humane showed up.
That is our beginning.
Until last Friday, for years it had been all about greed governing America,
from saturday jun-24-2025 the forces that will bring America’s democracy and our Constitution back to rule our nation
have spoken.
May this movement continue for all major causes.
Way to go♥️🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻🌈🌈

Bravo!
First we must call a thing a thing…In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.,"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil.”
Alas, the sleeping giant has woken. At long last.
I hope. So.

Finally a country coming out of it's stupor. I was discouraged though that in a college town young people were notorious by their absence
Definitely a bummer.
