May silence be your voice until that silence leads, supports and extends the voice that will eventually come from your heart and through your mouth, speaking Truth from your soul.
Thanks a million for your insights on the current situation. I first noticed your writing when you covered A Course in Miracles. I’m hoping that peace can prevail.
I continue to notice that ICE is raiding major Blue leaning cities. Like Chicago and LA.
But meat packing plants in So Dakota seem to be "sanctuaries" for undocumented workers -- of all ages -- to butcher animals for American carnivores to eat.
The meat packing industry is horrible in more ways than can ever be elaborated in a brief reply. Worker rights and well being are obstacles to the industry greed. This does point out however the fact that in all these raids we have yet to see ONE EMPLOYER ARRESTED OR DETAINED!!!! I'm thinking perhaps the left needs to start talking about this!!!!
I appreciate your prayerful meditations Marianne, and I appreciate the way you wear your spiritual life and political life side by side. Sometimes they do feel written by two different people though.
You understand the power and deeper significance of words, so I wonder why write “g*ddamned”? It colloquially gets your energy across, but it also puts distance between that early morning Marianne that prayers to be an instrument of thy PEACE, not thy vengeance.
Please don’t misunderstand this as a call to be passive, just dignified. Thank you✨🙏🏼✨
In the 1980s, my friends and I would sit in pews as close to the front of the crowded West Hollywood church you spoke in so as to not miss a word. These weekly gatherings changed my life in meaningful, long lasting ways. Thank you, first and foremost.
If Creator of the Universe is impotent enough to be offended by a word or phrase made in one of the many languages spoken around this planet, it may be time to interview other deities for instructions more inclusive & Christ-like than bully rhetoric from a middle-school playground.
Prefer my Dogs not to be made in man’s image, especially when it comes to bigotry & gender shaming, but that’s just me and… free will.
There are Dog-given times when “keep sweet” just doesn’t cut it. Just ask Arjuna…
Listen to Leonard Bernstein's mass commissioned by Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis for the opening of the Kennedy Center. One of the pieces in the work talks about the creation story. The lyrics are, " ...and it was Goddmaned good!" I was thinking the other day about how one engages in political discourse. It seems to me when one is trying to bring consensus between opposing sides of an issue, it is wise to pull back the rhetoric. When one is working to rally the troops, the rhetoric can fly. Right now we need to rally the troops. Could and would Buddha, Jesus of Nazareth, or even Tich Nat Hahn have refrained from the expletive? Perhaps, but even Jesus of Nazareth lost his cool with the money changers in the temple!
When an official says they’re here to liberate you—while parking tanks on your streets—you’re not being liberated. You’re being told to sit down and shut up while the invaders take selfies in front of City Hall.
Occupations always come wrapped in the language of freedom. Ask Baghdad. Ask Budapest. Ask any empire’s PR department.
And now they’ve decided to “liberate” L.A.—one of the most fiercely independent, gloriously chaotic, and proudly ungovernable cities on this planet? Good luck with that.
The real liberation? It’s when the people remind the would-be kings that we are not subjects. We’re citizens. And tomorrow we’ll show them: No Kings. No Tyrants. No Tanks on Our Turf.
I will march in Miami. My stance and philosophy is to march in silent solemnity. I think these times require silence to offer a counterbalance to the mayhem that the authorities desire. ✌️
I really believe a powerful, unifying visual for the residents of LA (and cities across the country) that transcends "their" ability to accuse us of violence could be vital and game-changing.
I have listened to Srdja Popovic’s interview with Center for Humane Technology probably 3-4x )(Popovic was instrumental in bringing down Slobodan Milosevic in Serbia, and this is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard. And I’ve heard hundreds).
He brilliantly describes creating “dilemma actions” for authorities, and I think Marianne, of all people, could be the genesis of a dilemma action in LA. She has so many people there. A friend of mind suggested that all activists wear DJT blow up costumes; the idea being to outfit LA ‘insurrectionists’ in inflatable Trump suits + dance party at National Guard lines.
This creates a dilemma: either guards attack the blowup Trumps who are clearly just standing there peacefully (also creating a viral international moment that tells a powerful visual story) or they step back and ignore the peaceful absurdity, crowning us the winners of the narrative.
Either way, they are stuck.Another thought I had was that we blast ballroom dance music and everyone joins together in beautiful, slow ballroom dancing. Just to completely create a massive worldwide visual. I think it could be profound. See this little post: substack.com/@jamesluca…
Did Puppy-killer Porn Barbie mean LA would be better off if she was in charge? So she could shoot those nasty socialists and Mexicans right between the eyes for not 'behaving'? The socialists who create fair housing initiatives, ask the rich to pay their fair share of taxes and establish universal health care? The Mexicans who fixed my roof in record time and repainted my cabinets a glorious red and sang love songs and told jokes and generally looked like they were having a damn good time and called me their abuela while doing a terrific job that held up for years? Yeah, Kristi, sure.
The whole media spread drama (chaos) was designed to divide and conquer and create chaos.
The city is a concept, its the people that need to start acting like they are free, which will only happen when they are free from wrong( separatist) thinking and the idea the govt is " god" an authority and is master of them . Govt is akin to the manifested collective ego.
I find your messages so disturbing and even inflammatory in part. The California that you know certainly isn’t the ordinary people who have to live daily among the homeless including many veterans, those unable to afford to buy a home or the high cost of living, and the destruction and ruin of areas in Los Angeles and more so San Francisco. People are fleeing the state who can afford to while others can’t. The leadership in California is burdensome. How can you not see that? I have family and friends there. None I know like what it has become. Instead of continually sharing whatever you’re trying to achieve, why not run for public office and make a difference in a way that might improve the state of affairs. Your messages and influence seem to be waning among your followers. I learned a lot from your presence when you were running for President both times, and from your books. What happened to you?
California is NOT the only state that lives among the homeless daily. Homelessness is not a political reality. It is a human reality and tragedy . . . As a retired Presbyterian member of the clergy, I've wrestled with my self over this and I am reminded that scripture reminds us the poor will always be with us.
Even more serious 🙏 for the Middle East right now, which is in deep crisis. A war between Iran and Israel with the United States caught between the two is a very serious and very dangerous thing. So 🙏 and 🙏 and 🙏.
Prayers and some Reiki for your throat.
May silence be your voice until that silence leads, supports and extends the voice that will eventually come from your heart and through your mouth, speaking Truth from your soul.
May all be consecrated by God's Great heart.
Yes, Marianne. Please get well!!!!
There is nothing so poetic as sweet silence to speak the truth. Thank you for reminding us. Peace and Care to all!
Thanks a million for your insights on the current situation. I first noticed your writing when you covered A Course in Miracles. I’m hoping that peace can prevail.
This is a perfect, to the point description of what is going on. The light WILL drive out the darkness!

Kristi would fit in with Chuck Manson's group. She is dangerously ill.

It feels like the right word.
I'm alright with a little hard language being spoken about a hard hearted situation.
Felt like the right word for me too. Thank you for sharing. Love you Marianne, and your ‘kick ass’ side too.
Dear Marianne,

Now is the time for miracles! thanks for all you do Marianne. Feel better soon.

I will look into that substatck posting. It sounds interesting.
That substack was just a little image of dancing, for inspiration! the rest of it is just me, trying to get people to think about other ways of doing this. But I meant to post the podcast - really do listen. you won't regret it. https://www.humanetech.com/podcast/laughing-at-power-a-troublemakers-guide-to-changing-tech
Oh, got it. The podcast is what I wanted to look into, so now I have that link too. Thanks a bunch!
If you think of it, LMK what you think! I loved it so much
Will do 💟

Feel better! Take care of you!
Never give anything - anything at all - to a bully. Never, No, Never. Make no mistake - Donald John Trump is a gutless bully.
