Truth with a big capital "T"!!! Love this so much. Our way out is not through the political establishment, at least not as it currently exists. My prayer is that one very painful gift we might be able to harvest out of what is happening now with this administration, is a reborn political order. I don't know for sure if enough will wake up, but I have to hold and work for the possibility. Thanks for continuing to keep your eye on the real prize Marianne!

Oh, this post is like a balm for my soul. I pray to the Goddess you are correct -- and that I see these wise women taking over in my lifetime.

Bless you Marianne, I believe you are one of these women. and deep in my soul I hold out for women and like minded individuals to unite, and step up to the plate. I am ready to do my part.

We, the women, need our allies!

I am awed at the extent of the misunderstandings we have all come to expect as normal. How women have been put on the back burner for so long and yet some still continue to insist that is where we belong. May all you say come true and it cannot happen too soon. We have all been fighting the misogyny of our society our whole lives and to think it is going to take this extreme state of being for things to even start to change is probably more than I can handle well at my age. However, I am a witch of many strengths and will keep up the good fight for as long as I can.

Blessed be, sister!

This is how I see it too: wise women are gathering their collective power to "be the change"! Thank you for explaining this so brilliantly, faithfully and courageously, Marianne!

In 1930 Gandhi said: "If Nonviolence (a. k. a. Love) is the law of our being, then the future is with women." He was right. The time is now.

Thank you Marianne for pulling back the curtain on a patriarchal, fear based system and allowing space for the empowerment of feminine energy to take center stage.

Beautiful, just beautiful Marianne. Thank you for speaking truth instead of “politics”. Thank you for being a leader and an inspiration.

Witches, Midwives, and Nurses: A History of Women Healers

Barbara Ehrenreich

ReadHowYouWant.com, 2010 - Medical - 104 pages

As we watch another agonizing attempt to shift the future of health care in the United States, we are reminded of the longevity of this crisis, and how firmly entrenched we are in a system that doesn't work. Witches, Midwives, and Nurses, first published by The Feminist Press in 1973, is an essential book about the corruption of the medical establishment and its historic roots in witch hunters. In this new edition, Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English have written an entirely new chapter that delves into the current fascination with and controversies about witches, exposing our fears and fantasies. They build on their classic expos on the demonization of women healers and the political and economic monopolization of medicine. This quick history brings us up-to-date, exploring today's changing attitudes toward childbirth, alternative medicine, and modern-day witches.

Blood Rites

Origins and History of the Passions of War

By Barbara Ehrenreich

Publisher: Twelve

¨What draws our species to war? What makes us see violence as a kind of sacred duty, or a ritual that boys must undergo to “become” men? Newly reissued in paperback, Blood Rites takes readers on an original journey from the elaborate human sacrifices of the ancient world to the carnage and holocaust of twentieth-century “total war.”

Ehrenreich sifts deftly through the fragile records of prehistory and discovers the wellspring of war in an unexpected place — not in a “killer instinct” unique to the males of our species, but in the blood rites early humans performed to reenact their terrifying experiences of predation by stronger carnivores.

Brilliant in conception and rich in scope, Blood Rites is a monumental work that continues to transform our understanding of the greatest single threat to human life.¨

Thank you, Marianne.

Your piece here, and the readers'comments, are very clarifying.

Looks like I'm off to the library when I get home.

Thank you so much! It is encouraging to read that others recognize and are acting to regain our sanity in this country. It can get very scary. I hope none of us gives up. I believe it will get better!
