You probably remember President Trump arguing that we invaded Venezuela to compensate American oil companies for all the money that had been “stolen” from them. But when $500M came in from the first sale of seized oil, he put the money in an account in Qatar!
The President said he did this so that he could control the money more easily (yep, that’s sort of the point of offshore accounts lol), declaring that if he didn’t do that then oil companies might sue for it!
You can’t make this stuff up.
I doubt many people believe the President anymore when he explains why he’s doing this or that, but the real world consequences of his actions are undeniable. Venezuela is one of many situations where he consistently pulls a curtain in front of our eyes, and it’s up to us to discover what’s behind it.
