I’ve been wanting you to speak about this for so long. It hurts my heart when people don’t understand where you’re coming from. In church we have this prayer, “I have sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what I have done and what I have failed to do.” It’s a sin of omission when we don’t speak up or try to change a terrible situation. I’ve failed a lot. Thanks for always trying your best. I’m so proud of you.
Oh Marianne who are these people that say Spiritual people should not speak out against injustices. They need to read the New Testament. Jesus spoke out against injustices many times. Love you. Keep speaking.❤️
It may not be that people are "looking away." I think that people are afraid. Afraid of what will happen to them if they stand up. Now, Marianne, you are one of the very few leaders willing to stand up, speak from your heart, and empower the eternal principles of truth, justice, and integrity. What reinforces people's fear is that few recognized leaders are speaking as you do, which would give people more courage to act. Just idle threats wrapped in "wait and see." Why wait? The question, besides you and Gavin, I don't hear any others point to the tyranny of the obvious. What's missing is the kind of inspiring leadership that would give people the courage to speak out.
“ Of course, even when you see the world as a trap and posit a fundamental separation between liberation of self and transformation of society, you can still feel a compassionate impulse to help its suffering beings. In that case you tend to view the personal and the political in a sequential fashion. "I'll get enlightened first, and then I'll engage in social action." Those who are not engaged in spiritual pursuits put it differently: "I'll get my head straight first, I'll get psychoanalyzed, I'll overcome my inhibitions or neuroses or my hang-ups (whatever description you give to samsara) and then I'll wade into the fray." Presupposing that world and self are essentially separate, they imagine they can heal one before healing the other. This stance conveys the impression that human consciousness inhabits some haven, or locker-room, independent of the collective situation -- and then trots onto the playing field when it is geared up and ready.
It is my experience that the world itself has a role to play in our liberation. Its very pressures, pains, and risks can wake us up -- release us from the bonds of ego and guide us home to our vast, true nature. For some of us, our love of the world is so passionate that we cannot ask it to wait until we are enlightened.
You. Marianne , are one I read and listen to frequently and regularly, daily even. Thank you for speaking to bringing the spiritual into the material and daily life.
I’m learning everyday how to survive this madness. I learn by listening to your spiritual guidance (ACIM course) and your substack political updates) I appreciate you standing up for what you believe and educating us at the same time. I hear your spiritual voice and soul loud and clear on substack. You’ve shown me how to listen and learn and not live in fear as we’ve headed into this storm. There is a light within you, within us all that will guide us through the darkness. Thank you Marianne. You are a beloved leader.
Spiritual people asking if they should be political is like firefighters asking if they should bother with water.
The Abolitionists prayed with one hand and smashed chains with the other. The Suffragists lit candles and torched the lie that women could not vote. MLK did not just preach love. He weaponized it against empire.
Love without power is a Hallmark card. Power without love is a tyrant. The whole point is to marry them, then send them marching into the streets.
I’m Obama’s second term he had the opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court Justice … Mitch McConnell and the Republicans never let him … “COMPROMISE” … at this point and time is a loosing strategy … You can “Push Back Hard” at someone … and not hate them … you can say “No” to someone … and not fear them … We are fighting to save this democracy and the rule of law … This is not the time to climb your spritural tower … bury your heads … hide … and wimp out … this is a time to Act Courageously !!!
YES!!! As Frederick Douglass so brilliantly added "AGITATE!! I prayed for 20 years until I prayed with my legs!" No, it is not easy- that is for sure- To stand up and NOT PUT UP WITH DARKNESS and this repugnant patriarchy which uses money to control and dominate is SICKNESS and not the will of the Almighty BEAUTY of our Holy Creator. LOVE DOES have us stand up and say STOP. These white men are NOT our emanating light from our illuminating constitution! AGITATE! Activate! I keep thinking of MLK, GHANDI and other nonviolent change makers. They were the disciples of God. May WE follow their footsteps!
My resistance is fueled by my father’s WWII experience and HIS true passion to save Democracy from Fascism. It becomes seeded deep when a parent teaches you these truths!

I remember you saying, “Sometimes love says no.”

Would love to see Gavin and Marianne as our next President & Vice President!

Thank you Marianne for refusing to remain silent while speaking into the heart of the American people.

The problem with hypocrisy is that it goes unrecognized by its practitioners. They can’t be shamed because they are oblivious to the condition.

A good name for a new political party could be Human Kindness Party.
Thank you Marianne!!!!
