I agree that our Government is putrid, there is no opposition party so it is on us to stand up to this. It seems like only economic strikes and boycotts have any meaning or impact. We are being governed by a mob boss and his thugs without even righteous anger from the Democrats. This is sickening.

Was waiting for you to comment on this. :) <3

A thorough and accurate read of the situation, thank you for it.

Planning to re_stack and promote on social media.

This seems entirely explicable in terms of US hegemony, the Monroe Doc, the WTO, IMF, and our over muscled military. Trump (and Cabinet) are following the script.

Also want for a bunch of people to see this right away:

At the time of the Iraq War, I was hosting a Sirius XM radio show. Speaking by phone to a woman in Iraq, she said something I will never forget.

“We knew we had a devil on our hands. We were waiting for the day when we could get rid of him and his sons. And we were plotting. But what you Americans have done is delivered so many devils, we’ll never be able to be rid of them.” ~ Marianne Williamson

I need to re-post this at the top of the comments on this article because it's so true and so dangerously relevant to everything that is coming next:

We weren’t protecting liberty. We were simply stealing oil.

~ Marianne Williamson

I am so, so tired of being embarrassed of my country. For decades now; it’s just that this administration is actually *proud* of our American bullying. We’ve now got the master bully for a president. I’m ashamed to be an American.

Thanks for this article, Marianne. 🩵

Marianne Williamson's avatar

They don't care that we're ashamed, as long as we acquiesce. And we must not.

What do we do? Americans are terrified to not pay taxes and our taxes pay for this fraternity’s nonsense. I am not paying mine. I will wait till this buffoon is out of the office and pay the penalty. He’s not getting my money.

Pay your taxes. You suffer if you dont

Sharon's avatar

I refused to pay the poll tax when the thatcher government was in power. Eventually she and her tax were toppled and it proved to be a factor, amongst other things towards her resigning in 1990. Many were scared to but many were not. You do what you can..

Thoreau struggled with the problem of civil disobedience. You might want to read his thoughtful essay on this.

Citizens, and citizens alone, need to step up to stop the further erosion of Democracy and justice in America. A National Referendum on the US government's performance in 2025 can do this and it should be done by citizens without any corporations, third parties, MSM or any government official involved whatsoever.

This is amazingly accurate and well said! I continue to be ashamed of this country's leadership and lack of morals and integrity

Thank you once again for your clarity, Marianne. As you said from the start, this was never about seizing boats carrying drugs to the USA. It’s all about oil, not to make our country rich, but to make the oil companies even richer. Heather Cox Richardson put out a video early this morning saying this is “REALLY, REALLY, REALLY bad. It’s flouting international laws, did not involve Congress and she said the American people must “light up the phone lines” in our opposition to such a dangerous move - in our own hemisphere this time around. May God hear our prayers. 🙏🕊️🙏

And this time the US President doesn't even make any pretense... more blood and treasure in the quest for oil. Happy New Year!

It's true. Before, they used to at least pretend to be noble.

Also accurate, unfortunately.

Buenas tardes!

Translation for those who do not speak or read Spanish:

Good afternoon! Thank you, Marianne, for your reflections. Briefly, from my Latin American perspective, I'd like to share some simple ideas that encapsulate a critical view of the region's geopolitical history; a history riddled with pain, coups d'état, exile, and multiple forms of violence:

1- No imperialist intervention (regardless of the power involved) will bring peace to the people.

2- The invasion of any state cannot be justified under any argument: not moral, not political, and certainly not economic (for example, oil). The self-determination of peoples is sacred.

3- Respect for international law is a duty that admits no excuses. International treaties must be upheld so that the "law of the strongest" (which is not necessarily the law of the most just) does not end up cruelly prevailing, devastating entire populations, decimating valuable lives, and causing unnecessary suffering.

I deeply wish that peace and global solidarity will become the sacred law that governs human coexistence on our planet.

Blessings to all!

Thank you Claudia. I couldn't agree more.

"I deeply hope that peace and global solidarity will become the sacred law that governs human coexistence on our planet."

This is also my dearest wish, seen from Europe—from France. If we all work towards it together, each from where we are, we should eventually get there, right?

Wishing courage and good luck to all peoples, In Latin America, in the US, or beyond, who hold democracy, respect for international law, and human rights dear to their hearts and will stand up for them to the end: to all those who identify with Marianne's powerful message, to all of us, wherever we are in the world.🍀✨

What I’m putting in quotation marks, I’ve taken straight from Google. Everything after the quotation marks are my own thoughts and words.

“Apocalypse has come to be used popularly as a synonym for catastrophe, but the Greek word apokálypsis, from which it is derived, means a revelation.”

The revelation, to me, is seeing what has been going on, what, since the dawn of the Western patriarchy? Maybe even before that; since those Sumerian and Egyptian and all the other pre Judeo-Christian empires. One set of bad boys trying to overtake and overthrow other sets of bad boys. With 10,000 years or so of one upmanship, we are now truly, really truly at the edge of true unsustainability and annihilation. Neither humanity nor all of the other inhabitants on earth can take this craziness anymore. From this space, I see the inevitability of Biblical prophecies- that destruction of the earth, her inhabitants, and her entire biosphere may well indeed happen. And yet, as Marianne says over and over and over (for what, 40-50-ish years now??), a new consciousness is in fact dawning in more and more of us, of walking this earth walk, allowing our lives to be led by Soul. Claiming and expressing the power and authority that God/Higher Power/Source implanted in us. We think that oil gives us power? Or solar panels? No, it’s Spirit, and as we read in Deuteronomy 30:11-14, we don’t need to climb up a high mountain or a voyage across the sea. God/Spirit is embedded in our hearts, and it's readily accessible to us to understand and follow.

And, we need to stand up and say NO to this craziness. And to quote Rabbi Tarfon, 2nd century Rabbinic Sage: “It is not our responsibility to finish the work of perfecting the world, but, neither are we free to desist from it either”.

And another way to take the Epstein Garbage off the front page. Where does this stop and who will stop them? Not Schumer. Who?

oh and taking prisoners to NYC? won’t Mamdani have something to say about that?

Marianne Williamson's avatar

Since it's federal, I don't think he will.

This all could have been prevented, and that to me is the biggest tragedy.
