Marianne, Thank you. Blaming and shaming women is the first impulse. Women have been programmed by the misogynistic patriarchy to experience each other as competition. I see that reflected in some reactions to your essay. To fully take it in, one has to catch glimmers of and/or resurrect deeply buried memories dating back to pre-adolescence to realize how things began to change. As children, we were taught to look outward and held responsible for how boys, men, and girls and women objectified us and decided who and what we were before we knew ourselves.

Spot on.

In the one interview I saw with her on Bulwark, she came across as a woman who has learned precisely how to use her blondeness because using her brain wasn’t as efficient in serving her ambition. So, ambitious….yes. And that is always reframed by men AND women as Bitch.
