ELON'S MAYBE-IT-WAS, MAYBE-IT-WASN'T MOMENT
It's not just the hand; it's that look on his face!
I have looked at the video of Elon Musk’s maybe-Nazi-salute, maybe-not-Nazi-salute many times. What I haven’t been able to get over is not just the arm and hand gesture; it’s the look on his face while he made it. What planet are we living on that that is not to be seen as a Nazi salute?
Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University, said: "Historian of fascism here. It was a Nazi salute and a very belligerent one too." German journalist Mike Stuchbery wrote, “I studied the Nazis at University, taught the history of Nazi Germany on two continents and wrote for major newspapers about Nazi Germany. I am internet famous for fact-checking chuds on the history, ideology and policy of Nazi Germany.” Then he added, “That was a Nazi salute.”
Ben-Ghiat and Stuchbery weren’t the only ones who affirmed the Nazism in Musk’s gesture. Actually, Musk did too.
"Frankly, they need better dirty tricks,” he wrote. “The 'everyone is Hitler' attack is sooo tired."
So Musk’s defense – beyond, “Yeah, so what of it?” - is that not every Nazi is Hitler. But that is the Nazi threat in America today. Not that they are all Hitlers. Simply that they are Nazis…
Once we start normalizing Nazism - or even Nazi symbols or identifying gestures - American democracy is done for. Yet people get very upset now when someone points out that the behavior of an American political leader is fascistic - as though that simply can’t happen here, so obviously it must be hyperbole.
It most definitely is not. And in the coming months, if in fact God help us we see more of this, our greatest challenge will be not allowing ourselves to be gaslit. We must be true to what we know, what we see, and what we feel.
I got this from a relative, and I think it says it perfectly:
<< I wrote this to a friend earlier who was all 'Even the ADL is saying it wasn’t a salute! He’s done all these things that prove he’s not a Nazi!’
I told her: I feel like I think it’s important to recognize that both things can be true at the same time. Elon Musk might have made gestures like wearing 'bring them home' pins and visiting Auschwitz, but those actions don’t erase or contradict the fact that his current behavior aligns with dangerous ideologies, including platforms and narratives that embolden antisemitism and white nationalism. This isn’t about whether Musk hates Jews all the time; it’s about consolidating power by manipulating various political and social currents—something that authoritarian figures like Hitler have historically excelled at.
It’s not just about individual actions but the broader trajectory and influence. Yes, he may have performed pro-Jewish acts when it suited him politically, but amplifying people like Alice Weidel or Tommy Robinson cannot be excused. These moments demonstrate that he’s playing to extremes, using tools of division and historical revisionism to push a very deliberate agenda. Supporting Israel doesn’t absolve someone of this; they can do both simultaneously. It’s chilling how calculated this consolidation of influence seems.>>
You know he’s neurodivergent right? You know the context of the speech was to Thank everyone from the bottom of his heart? He put his hand on his heart and threw it to the crowd. This is the level of retarded the MSM is at right now.
