This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday. It was one of the services at my late parents' church, I actually always really liked.
The church was always full of palms, an exotic plant for a baby boomer.growing up in the US Southern Midwest.
I loved the image of Jesus riding a donkey and people lining the path with palms. I was always puzzled as a kid how things could have turned so fast in just a week!
Another concept I STILL don't get is why the day Jesus was crucified is called "good Friday,".
It wasn't a very good day.for him!
I DID NOT enjoy the Easter services, except for some pretty cool music.
Their theology around the holy day never made sense to me, even as a child.
ACIM really helped me with that! Also, growing into my own spirituality helped.
This is also the season of Ostara, the time of renewal and rebirth.
When one of my grand nephews was about 10 or 12 Yeats old, I over heard him asking his grandmother about Easter.
When she told him the traditional Christian theology that Jesus died for ever lasting life for others, etc., he asked her, " Yeah, but couldn't he have worked out a better deal?"
more than ever we need this....
Will be there! Many thanks. 💕
Thanks, Marianne. On the calendar.
