Never knew Robby was so naive and gaslit. Also rude in interrupting & talking over you. Keep on keeping on, Marianne! You are a voice of reason and a beacon of light in these dark times. Thank you for your courage. 💕

The gas chambers were efficient :-( Efficiency is as often awful as good. Nature and beauty are not efficient but crazily wonderful. Well done Marianne, a light in the dark

Well, you schooled that little putz. Marianne, thank you for your work. Had I been on the DNC, I would have voted for you to lead our party. You see what's happening now for what it is; he doesn't. He worries about how "bad outcomes" can result from democracy? Has he noticed any bad outcomes from Putin and Orban? It's amazing to see right-wingers worshipping these "strongmen." Trump, of course, wants to be a king. So far, only the federal courts are stopping him. But I'm encouraged when I listen to people such as you who see how dangerous and frightful Donald Trump is....five little words seal it: "If he's breathing, he's lying."

Wow you people are amazing in your ability to distort what is happening in front of your face and only see what you want to see..Robby is far from a putz although I will say from your comment here you know something about putzes..also you seem a little wee bit on the warmongering cold war mentality side..like practically every current democrat

Of course it is more efficient to ignore the opposition. But what comes around, goes around. When the rest of us have no wealth with which to buy the private sector's good and services, there will be no money flowing to these corporate overlords. That's when the "efficiency" birds come home to roost. We are all a part of a bigger whole. You can't cut away every appendage and expect the rest of the organism to function!

Thank you for discussing these issues with us as we live and work through them. What can a single citizen do at this point?

Hello Judith, I liked your question: what can a single citizen do? From that question, we could shift into the position of what we, the PEOPLE, are going to do about this. Finally, we take action against this growing egoic chaos.

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. Marianne, you made some truthful points and conveyed them very well. Keep chipping away; the whole rotten foundation WILL eventually collapse. Take it easy, everyone.

Not having open honest conversations and debate is for sure the road to autocratic plutocracy and the corruption of democracy. Thank you for clear thinking and honest debate.

I appreciate much about you Marianne, but this post illustrates exactly why I've never identified with the Left (as I don't with the Right). Your worldview is entirely predicated on 'Big Tech, Big Oil, Big Contractors, Big Pharma, Big Insurance, etc.' being the ruin ("corrupt") of society.

They are all fine and necessary to criticize, but until you and your ilk can similarly criticize 'Big NGO, Big Non Profit, Big (Higher) Education, Big State Dept., Big Government (Bureaucracy)' yours will continue to be a worldview that is insufficiently robust.

Failing to do this leads inevitably to the affective polarization that so ails us.

Hi!

I appreciate your comment.

I think we are a traumatized, post-pandemic nation. We want someone to blame or someone to be held accountable so we can exhale and start the communal healing, but no one is stepping up. So we have to find a way to heal on our own or together by sharing our fears, doubts, joys, pain and encouragement.

I think it's probably fair to say that there IS room to investigate the other industries you mentioned if they fall under the govt's purview. I just don't know if they receive any gov't subsidies or incentives which would seemingly make them accountable to the taxpayers. And I also don't know if they're influencing the outcome of elections.

I'm not sure that we're ever going to legislate corruption out of the gov't or those in power, but it would be nice if big companies were disallowed from giving such large, game-changing donations to Super PACs that can help influence how political outcomes are determined, (though it doesn't seem to have helped Harris or H.Clinton, as Marianne has pointed out in the past). Whoever IS "financed" into office is not necessarily the best person for the job and MAY feel obligated to represent what that major donor wants - which might run contrary to what's viewed as best for The People.

I'm with you that we need to reduce the polarization talk. I'm trying wherever and whenever I can to make a point of trying to talk against a person's action or actions as opposed to attribute the same traits to a whole group of people, though it certainly makes it difficult when the House and the Senate keep mostly voting as a block. 🙄

I know, personally, I cringe when I hear talk about the "left" and the "right" as negative or when it involves blame or name calling. It keeps us divided and in our corners, when what we want is to be heard and understood and seen as a part of the whole.

I'd much rather hear us talking about the pain and fear we are experiencing from these latest hasty, broad-sweeping changes coming out of Washington. When people are afraid we are not our best selves. We fear what we don't understand. We are a nation that needs transparency, comfort and assurances. That's why I, for one, am glad that E. Musk posted on YouTube Episode One of his DOGE podcast yesterday. It's a beginning. It gives us a chance to listen in on the conversation, hopefully with objectivity, and gives us a chance to also express our respectful opinions in the comment section. Maybe you can check it out.

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Be well!

Christy

You’re jealous because it could have been you? It could have been you Marianne that found relevance in this moment. MAGA never turned you away, but you’re so devout to the abusive husband called the DNC that you’ll just wait out in the rain and hope for his glimpse as he is ushered out. So Sad.

I heard DOGE is currently rummaging through the IRS. Can’t wait to hear moan of arc herself wail about protecting the IRS. Come on Marianne. Do it. Save the IRS.

Far be it from me to help the left figure out reality but if I were you I would recognize DOGE as a double edged sword. Why don’t you DEMAND doge audit the pentagon? What a win that would be? You won’t because you’re a bunch of warmongering sellouts.
